He was a great singer and songwriter. Would have been sad no matter what day it was.

Original post from Tartan:
I thought it was strange that he died on his birthday. How often does that happen?

Our church group was sorting thru the fabric RK gave us and someone mention he had died on his birthday. Everyone thought that was really strange.

I felt really bad, because it was also my birthday and I was, am, 5 yrs. older than Merle, also sad because I loved his songs. A good ol' boy passed yesterday.

My DH says he wants to go out like Merle. Die the day he was born. His father died the day he was born, unfortunately it was December 23. He was buried the next day. the family didn't want to ruin anyone's holiday.

My grandmother died on her birthday. She was also married on her birthday, my second son was born on her birthday. I have heard it happens often if a birthday is near.

You're funny James and yes it can only happen once to one person. However, I think you'd be surprised at how often people do die on their birthday - naturally.
