Because their bones are like jelly, they can squeeze through a gap of ¼ inch! If you can find where they are are getting in, block the hole/s with steel wool - they can't chew through it.

I have those plastic traps that kill but there is a cover on them so that you don't see the mouse, just the tail hanging out. I then open up the cover and press the lever. They fall right into the garbage. Never touch them myself.
I put two traps on the basement stairs each year at this time. So far I have caught 6 mice. They never reach the kitchen and sewing room this way.
You could put some near enough to keep them out of the sewing room. Use peanut butter. It works very well.

I used to buy those live trap boxes that trap a whole bunch of them at a time and then flush them down the toilet. You put them against a wall in an area they frequent (hint, they follow thier old urine trails) I used peanut butter inside mine.
Check out any anatomy book and you will see that mice do have bladders!

I stand corrected...they do have bladders but no bladder control...they almost continually leak urine

Oh my try the sticky boards and check them everyday. The exterminator should be sending someone who specializes in trying to find out where they are coming in from so the area can be cemented and blocked.
