Muscle relaxer advice....

For weeks now, I've had extreme muscle tension in my upper back, shoulders and neck. Nothing over the counter is working and I finally broke down and got a massage today. Well, it still hurts, keeps causing headaches, and I'm seeing my doctor in the morning to ask about a muscle relaxer.

The caveat: I'm a heavyweight when it comes to meds. What knocks other ppl out doesn't touch me, sadly, so although I don't want the strongest stuff out there, I sure don't want to waste money on something that won't work. I don't think it's my hobby causing the tension because it's just been mostly in the last 3 or 4 weeks and I started quilting in January. And I don't spend that much time on a daily basis sewing at all...

So any suggestions/input very much appreciated,
Sam

I can only remember the one time I was on muscle relaxants, laying in the chair like I was drunk, there was a knock at the door and one of my children 6 or 7 yrs old at the time yelled "Mommy God's here" It was the pastor from our church but I was so embarrassed I could hardly lift my head, I still wonder what he thought! And I did wonder if God had come to relieve the pain! LOL
Good Luck

The only time I had a muscle relaxant I had an allergic reaction to it and ended up with full body hives. Yikes.

Hope they find something that will ease your pain.

I sure hope they find something that works for you and that you can still be active. I avoid muscle relaxers because they work really good for me!

My back has gone out a few times and the doctor gave me Flexerol. It worked great but took a couple of days and I was not groggy. Hope this helps.

I am not sure if you are looking for a script or not but Soma works pretty well for those who have higher resistance so to speak. I sure hope you get relief soon.

Flexeril doesnt work for me at all....

Somas are as bit strong for me...

if i break down and take something, its usually Baclofen... which works well for me, but is mostly given for those with MS, so not sure if it works for every1, but is worth checking into to

Hi,

you might ask your doctor for a pain shot (My doctor gives me a pain shot every 3 months and sure helps the pain, I have siatic nerve damage in left hip and leg)
