Way to go. That kind of thing is not happening for many these days. My DSIL was just fired to make room for someone with more education. (And much less experience)

I feel bad about the great numbers of people who are out of work. When my employer started cutting back in July, I started exchanging e-mails with fellow employees so that I can contact them if I hear of any openings suitable for them. A half dozen or so of those people were laid off the same day as I, so I'm glad I took that opportunity earlier. They were not allowed to hang around and say goodbye.
By the way, if any of you know of anyone out of work, I highly recommend the job search work shops that are offered by labor departments, etc. No matter how much you think you know, or how well prepared you think you are for your job search, you will take away something new from these programs.
