MY BABY is home. Stove, not sewing machine

they make new stoves to look like the old ones- I would love to have one whenever I do over my kitchen.
That is one really cool stove- my favorite color too. It will last forever! Congratulations!

I cooked for years on an old Andes wood/coal range. In some ways, the old ones were designed so much better! In my younger days, I had one something like yours, that you had to light with a match. The oven door would nearly explode and my hair was constantly singed, but it could cook like a champ!

Yes. This is the original porcelain. They also made them in pink (oooohhhh), pastel blue, mint green (most of those have copper handles- very pretty, red, black and white. And copper- those are great, but I imagine a real pain to keep clean.
The top on this one has been rechromed, because it was really worn, but the rest is just cleaned up and totally original.
When buying an old stove, though it seems counter-intuitive, it's better to buy a really greasy one than a really clean dry one. the grease protects it from rust. This one has been fried on every day of its last life. The insides were encrusted with grease. Disgusting, but it cleaned up great, and there was no rust.
