In my city as in Australia ...

This news was running here at the same time as some towns here were getting a second dose. Everyone understood what you are going through. All loss of life is tragic in these circumstances and my condolences that it is such a large number in your country.
The army and volunteers are assisting with clean up and building assessment as the flooding continues in other areas.I have volunteered to do sewing related jobs so should be busy for a while. (Should be really good at making curtains when I am finished).

The authorities in Queensland have been asking for volunteers to help with the clean up. These volunteers have to register so that they can be placed in areas where they have a skill that can be utilised. I have just heard that in Brisbane they were expecting between 2,000 and 3,000 people to register, they have had 50,000 people register as volunteers. It is so heart warming to hear that people are not waiting for government assistance and handouts, they are doing what needs to be done, the recovery from such devastation will be greatly shortened with this attitude.
