The "biscuits" could be due to the shelter diet - try taking her off anything with wheat in it for a while, then gradually reintroduce the wheat products. If you get biscuits after this, cut out the wheat again. A vet told us to try this, and it worked a treat. We were travelling in a van with our dog at the time, so it was very welcome advice!
