My sweet GD (pic below) will be 1 yr old in October, and I would like to make her a 'fabric book' - you know the kind: A is for Apple, B is for Ball, etc. The catch here is that my DD/SIL are bilingual (English/Spanish) and speak to her both languages. So I want to add Spanish words: A is for apple/arbos (tree) So I would have to do 2 pictures on each page! I know I have seen kits for making these books, but have you seen any in Spanish?

What kind of fabric is used for the pages, cause I know it will go in her mouth! I don't do applique very well, so want to limit that application if possible. (See why I am thinking on starting this NOW?) My DD/SIL will be able to help me with the translations, at least

Thanking you in advance for your great ideas!

sweet GD Jimena loves Grandma's quilts!

I have seen fabric at JoAnn's which is made especially for sewing into a book. It is 100% cotton. Maybe you could get that, then embroider the spanish words on the page. Just a thought.

CoriAmD beat me to it! I think I would purchase an English book, then embroider the spanish word too. Do you, or one of your friends have an embroidery machine? If not, it sounds like a good excuse to get one!!

oh.. I saw a panel in Spanish once, and I've been kicking myself for not buying it. My DD is growing up bilingual too. (English/Spanish) and my grandmother is teaching my DD Italian.

Let me see if I can find that book panel for you

Our children's room at the library has books in Spanish. I'm sure it would have an alphabet book for ideas.

I was going to suggest the colors in three languages panel.

It features Yellow, Black, Brown, Orange, Red, Gray, Green, Purple, Pink, and Blue colors

and in each frame it has 7 or 8 different objects with what it/they are called in three languages.

If you are interested in the one I have, I'm asking $5.50 for it plus $2.50 shipping to USA addresses.

Thanx, but just seems too 'advanced' for a 1 year old.
