Default My Kentucky Trip-Some great Barn Quilts!

We had planned a trip north and the weatherman said rainy and cool, so headed south instead. We went to the Appalacians in Eastern Kentucky. Went along the Ohio river to historical areas and also the Daniel Boone National Forest area. One thing that stood out to me was the kind and considerate people who were so courteous and helpful! Even the young boys we ask for some directions! A good experience and one to remember. We saw lots of barn quilts and I thought I'd share a few of them. We stayed in a Bed and Breakfast which had some old quilts on the walls and some of the beds. So, take a little tour with me....

How Pretty......I don' know anything about barn quilts.....they are made out of fabric right do they leave them out year round in all kinds of weather? Some almost look like paintings.

My mother was from Kentucky but I have never been. Love the Lady scarecrow. Wonder what kind of animal hides are hanging?

Jazzmyn- The quilts on the barns are made of wood and painted. There are many, many of them across the state of Kentucky. What you see hanging in the barn is tobacco!-the farmers were harvesting the crops in the fields and it has to hang to dry out. You would love going to see your mother's homeland!

Oh so wonderful, I loved to visit my cousins in Kentucky in the summers! And seeing the tobacco in the barn does it bring back memories. Such a great place to stay, looks cozy for sure !! Thanks for sharing.
