I would love to see that in a quilt - with sheer net for the wings.

Impressive that you "caught" this one at just the right time. Yes, dragonflies are good! You might have fun researching them as you work on your quilt.

You may be seeing the grub stage of Japanese Beetles. Hope not.

One day we had a swarm of dragonflies in the side yard at dusk (on about an acre near woods and a flood plain) Their bodies were about the size of my pinkie and we weren't even sure what they were. My husband & I stood facing west in the middle of them and realized they were eating "on the fly" the bugs that were hatching out of the grass, & similar to bats, never even touched us. It was a real awakening and a delight to see!

Dragon fly on black background fabric was on clearance at Walmart 4-5 years ago & I passed it up. I could have found a place for it eventually. Just give me the dumb award.

I might be alarmed at finding grubworms. Do you have a agricultural office near you? The people there should be able to help you with identification and treatment remedies, if any are needed. Good luck.

I am quite curious as to how you will choose fabric for the near transparent wingtips.
