I love, love, LOVE my laptop, but it took some practice for me to type with my fingers "up" instead of "flat." When I typed "flat" the "ham" part of my right thumb would lightly touch the mouse pad and the next thing I knew, everything I just typed was gone. Blah!

What I'm saying is, it might very well be just the way you are positioning your hands, and try being mindful of it.

I could type all day with my old laptop and its touch pad. Ya just gotta know when to put your thumb down on the pad at the right moment. Takes practice.

My laptop has a button that turns the mouse pad off so I can plug in my wireless mouse. Otherwise I have the same problem you do.

I bought a USB mouse to use but still activated the touchpad when I didn't want to. I tried setting the laptop to disable the touchpad when a mouse was plugged in but then the mouse doesn't work properly. I just try not to let my wrist hang down when typing.
