This is the one I have as well. Purchased used for about $40. Then took a serging class at a LQS and learned lots of valuable things. The most important being - write down every setting with every project. Write down your starting point (so you can return your settings to original); write down every setting on every thread for every project. It will save you buckets of time down the road.

Babylock they use forced air to thread the loopers! Love mine. Get a cover machine too for finished hems. Nice touch.

I have a Babylock serger. Have had it for years, and I love it. The air-threading makes it so much easier to use, and the machine is very versatile. Costs a bit more than some of the other sergers mentioned, but well worth it. It's a true work horse.

Ditto about the Babylock! I have the Imagine, and since I sew a lot of costumes, my serger is invaluable. One of the best purchases I've ever made.

I would visit a sewing machine dealer & try one out then decide. I bought one years ago because someone told me I should have one. Watched the video that came with it, threaded it, tried it out. One of the threads broke, I set it aside. Then put it in its case & put it in a closet where it lived for 5 years, then I sold it. For about 1/3 what I paid for it only getting 5 minutes max use out of it. I've been sewing for 50 years, just fine without it. I know some people love them & use them daily. Just try it out & see if it will be a right machine for you.

Babylock is so easy to use and makes a beautiful stitch. I had a Singer and a Pfaff over the years, but this Babylock Enlighten is the greatest!

I have a Babylock ovation serger which I love. I used it a lot when I was sewing garments for my grandaughters. Now since they are too old (17 and 18) to wear home made clothes, I don't use it nearly as much. There are several models with the jet air threading. My advice is to go to a Babylock dealer and check them out and test drive them. Then you can make a decision about which one is best for your type of sewing.

I am curious. If you know nothing about sergers, why would you want one?
I have a Babylock with Air Threading & it is the BEST serger I have ever owned. No fiddling with tensions & it almost threads itself. You will see as you check others out that some are very finicky threading the loopers & will have you very frustrated. You can use the "tie on" method for threading but if that ever becomes a problem you are in trouble. Everyone needs to know how to thread their serger. I could live without my serger but I prefer not to. I love my serger & still use it often enough that I will not get rid of it. Research sergers & check out different models. Baby lock is pricey but I think it is well worth the money.

I love my Babylock with the jet-air threading and self-adjusting tension. Had another brand before that had neither of those functions and it just gave me fits. They're pricey but, if you can afford it, go for it. Better to pay the price and be able to use it than go cheap and not use your serger because you can't make it work right.
