I was Public Health Nurse in my working life. I worked with newborns in low income areas. I met a Mexican mother who named her baby Iraxy. When I asked her where she got it from she told me that it was Mayan for Princess of the Springtime. Being a sunny spring time person (May baby), and already having been named a "Princesa" by my loving Hispanic father, it was a perfect nom de plume for me. I asked her if she minded my stealing it and she said no. So, it has been my on line name for over 20 years.

What a fun thread.
My name comes from my vanity plate for my car. I had just gotten a new Mustang GT and wanted Ronnie, but that was taken. So it took me several tries to come up with some combination of my name that was available - thus RonieM.

My user name is also boring. J is the first inital of my first name. The Beamer is from my girlfriend's Dad who made up this play on words of my maiden name. Some of my longtime friends still call me Beamer.

I come from a long line of princesses, as in the uber-sensitive one in The Princess and the Pea, and I decided to celebrate that trait instead of bemoaning my fate. The Queen Mother (my mother, another princess) named me Susan.
