Outside house flag

Outside house flag
Saw the question re a covered house flag posed by another member which made me think I would like to make one also but mine will be outside exposed to all the elements. Has anyone made one and, if so, what fabric did you use and did you treat it with anything to ensure it would last the season? Thank you.

A website with all the supplies to make an outdoor flag. http://www.flagguys.com/flagmake.html
In doing some reading, it would seem that nylon or polyester is a material that will last out in the weather. Some people do flags from burlap and other fabrics. They don't seem to have a lot of durability but the material is easily available and is inexpensive. Good quality nylon can be pricey.
JoAnn Fabrics has this nylon http://www.joann.com/sport-nylon/prd13084.html
And how to make a flag from a placemat http://www.prettyhandygirl.com/summe...tore-placemat/

I make all mine on dollar tree cloth place mats. I embroidery or piece on them on each, then sew two together , leaving a sleeve for the hanger. Several of mine have been around for two or three years.
