I like them and made these before. Only my 3 yr old grandson likes to give it a jerk and break the hoop or button. So I am using Velcro now. He is a sweetie so I just laugh about it. I gave one to my dear older friend and she broke hers too by yanking on it, so hers got velcro also. They are nice which ever closure you choose.

I do this also after I was gifted one from my aunt. Walmart sells a 2 towel, 2 potholder, oven mitt pack for $5. All color coordinated.

So the towel is gathered top to bottom and the potholder is then sewed to the top? I'm being a little dense here....sorry.....

Ok, fold the towel in half so you have a short fat rectangle not a long skinny one, and sew a gathering stitch across the crease. Draw it up to match the size of the center fold of the potholder. Stitch your gathering to the center crease of the potholder. Does this help?

My best friend has been making these for me for each of the different holidays/months. I love them. Guests to my house always seem to ask about them. They are a wonderful gift!
