This is one of those form and function debates. I use a PC and have used Mac's. They are really very different animals. Mac's do graphics very well and are "friendly" to people who are computer shy. I use PC's because Mac's will not run my software nor do I see it happening anytime soon. I use engineering/math based software that will not interface with a Mac. There are some programs that are coming out as Dual Platform which is nice but doesn't address my issues. If all I did was look at pretty pictures and word process then I might like Apple computers. Until Apple steps up to the plate with decent program capabilities for science applications they are going to stay on the store shelf for me. (Linux is great and runs on a PC so you don't have to run a Windows platform.)

I've had a Macintosh since 1985, when I got the Mac 512, which had 1000 different colors of lovely black, white and grey.
In fact, I still have it and the printer and all the add-ons, and it still works..darn hard to get Applewriter printer cartridges now.
I plan on donating it to a museum if such a thing exists.

Now I have an iMac, and on it has some Office stuff from Microsoft that I don't seem to ever use, plus a bunch of others
that I never use. I got it mainly for the Power Point stuff that I
wanted to see.

Had a Dell that my kids gave me when my old half egg Macintosh finally died at age 10 or 11, the Dell wasn't any good. Tried to connect it to Comcast but the guy said some Dells were just like that. Gave up and got another Mac, this time just the iMac.

By the way, I'm on the internet from 3 to 5 hours a day, since
I'm incurably nosey about what's going on in the world and with my friends and family. Plus the time I spend on this forum. Doesn't leave much time for sewing. And this month I'll be 77 years young, still volunteering with our local blood bank's mobile unit.

I have pc with a linux operating system. After my xindows xp got ruined by a virus I went to Linux because it is free.

I just can't justify the cost of a Mac and the Programs for it. My PC is 6 years old and still going strong. I guess it depends on how heavy a user you are. I love my HP pavillion with the AMD processor....I have always run AMD processors and have always had good luck with them...I won't buy an Intel processor.

I gave my pc away when I moved back here because of space and bought a Mac book. I love the fact I don't get any spam or virus but wish it would work more of the quilt software.

Our family currently had 5 Macs. Pretty good for 4 people! Three are lap tops and two are desktops. Husband uses PC at work and goes back and forth easily but prefers Mac for many of the same reasons already stated. Great support is a major factor.

I own a pc laptop, love it and have very few issues with it. Bought the pc because of the difference in price, the mac being much more expensive. That being said, I have a mac I work on at my job and love it as well. given the choice between the two, if my laptop died today, I'd get a mac. Perhaps a desktop, but still a mac.

PC. Even if I had the money Apple is more expensive, and when I'd have to run Windows on it just to use my embroidery and quilting software it doesn't seem worth it.
