Well...it's not Frozen Shoulder, yet.
Went to the doc today, sent me for xrays and then called with the news that what I have is "Calcific Tendonitis" Seems that it only hurts as it's getting better! How weird is that? Thing is, as it's getting better it CAN (not necessarily tho) cause frozen shoulder.

I get to go see the Ortho on the 16th of Sept...

Wow. I hope you get better soon. So what caused the "Calcific Tendonitis" do you know? Hope you get better soon. :)

I'm not sure Deanna, evidently it's common with age...
Thanks medots!

sounds painful...hope it gets better very soon. Amazing how you can't get into see a specialist for such a long time

I have a lot of shoulder issues right now. Pharmacist suggest Therm a Care. It provides 8 hours of heat which makes the blood flow in the shoulder which is suppose to help it. It does feel better when I use the Therm a Care. Hope your shoulder doesn't freeze up. Prayers for quick recovery and pain relief.

After having rotator cuff surgery on 28 Jan this year and 4 1/2 months of PT, I can say - KEEP MOVING! Motion is Lotion. I joined an exercise class and it is helping. Not back golfing yet, but will be soon.

Feel better soon.

I had a frozen shoulder so I feel your pain. :-( Keep moving it. There are exercise to help unfreeze the shoulder. My shoulder was a big as a football pad. It hurts so bad you can not sleep or do anything with your arm. I could not brush my hair. But the exercise did unfreeze the shoulder.

Keep moving it! Slowly and easily! God bless u !

Charlee,
I feel your pain. Just keep moving it like the PT's tell you to do and yes it WILL hurt. But, it will slowly allow you to move it more each day.
Remember, "No Pain, No Gain".......
Hope you feel better soon and that this is not hampering your quilting.. If so I think we could arrange an intervention for you..
Keep on quilting,
:XD:

I had frozen shoulder many years ago and the pt took care of it and I avoided surgery. Be prepared the actual pt can be quite painful. Maybe they have come up with better excercises. They did work and it has not given me any problems. Good luck with your treatment.

I AGREE!

I guess if it hurts while it's getting better it's good you hurt? That just seems messed up! :? I hope this clears up soon.

Charlee 08-24-2011 06:32 AM

Thanks Ladies! I keep moving it, because I'm either too involved with something to realize that it's gonna hurt, or to "test" it!

At this point, I can still fix my hair, because I can bend at the elbow. Am looking forward to seeing what the Ortho says, but evidently it should "fix itself" sooner or later!

I had that, went to a really good massage therapist and it got a lot better. I can't knit or crochet without pain but I can sew!!

jljack 08-24-2011 10:37 AM

Oh BOO!!! I hate it when "getting older" happens in such unexpected ways!!

Get better soon...will be praying for you!!

nativetexan 08-24-2011 11:26 AM

i hope they work things out for you and no surgery is required. therapy seems to be needed. my shoulder makes horrid clicking sounds and sometimes pinches where i can't move it. but not frozen. good luck!!

My physical therapist massaged my shoulder after the therapy....you talk about feeling like having a new shoulder!!!! It was wonderful!

I had frozen shoulder once... went to therapy for several weeks where they had me do some simple exercises, manipulated the shoulder to release the "lumps" (cant remember right now what they are called)... then they iced it... it felt much better each session... that was 7 years ago and havent had any trouble since. Good luck... it does get better.
