My Mom and Dad will both be 92 next month. Dad bought Mom a
BIG t.v. - it's easier to see and to read the captions at the bottom of the picture. We went over there to set up the t.v. We used the quilt that I had made for Mom, to set the t.v. on, so that we could hook it up and then turn it around on the table. The quilt is really pretty - I made it just for Mom, using Eleanor Burns' fabric in soft floral pastels. When we finished with the hook-up I put the quilt back on Mom's chair where she always keeps it - floral side in - just like she had it. When Mom saw it she got all upset and kept saying "where's the note? where's the note?" The "note" was the label that I had put on the back of the quilt telling my Mom how much I appreciate having such a wonderful mother and father to guide me through life. It's the best "note" I ever wrote. |
OOHHH how sweet.... Isn't it nice to know how much Mom appreciates your work  Thnaks for sharing the story with us.

oh, thats so sweet! :)
|
That makes me want to cry! ina good way. I hope that when I finally finish some quilts for my family that they love my work like that.
|
That very sweet. So far my mom doesn't want a quilt. Unless I make some thing "art" to hang on her wall. I don't do art quilts, yet.
|
That is the sweetest thing I have ever heard. Good for you.

There's nothing better than a mother's love, boy do I miss my mom.
|
What a darling story, I know it made you feel jproud.
|
:D Awesome.

Until you've actually made a quilt, you have no idea how much
time (and love) goes into the completion of it. To have your quilt appreciated sooooo much is really special! What a great MOM, too! |
Such a touching story!!! :D :D :D
Another good reason to label our quilts  |
Wonderful story! Thanks for sharing!
I really miss my mom, too. |
I know just how your mom felt! How often do we as a mom, get such positive loving feedback on how we did? Especially is real concrete useable words.
Two right of the top of my head: I outright bawled at work when one of my sons had flowers delivered to me for my birthday, and the card was all about how much he appreciated me for always being there, etc. My oldest son's wife had me crying when she told me how really well she thought I did in raising my four kids. All the fears and uncertainities you go through as your children are growing up, wishing they came with owners manuals.... And to hear them say, after all of it, that you done good? No better feeling on Earth! And then you combine that with a beautiful quilt, you made with love..... :-) |
what a wonderful story. many times when I quilt I think of my Mum that has been gone for 17 yrs. She was my inspiration for quilting. i know she would just love to be with me during these first years of my quilting experience. during the times when i'm not sure what I'm doing, I find myself saying, Mum, what's next. Angel on my shoulder. Love ya, Mum

Thank you all very much for all of your kind thoughts.
I KNOW how lucky I am and am grateful every day. BTW, MIL is 102 and still living on her own - worked til she was 92 - and is sharp as a tack. |
Now before another panic attach....put a little pocket on the back & tuck the note in it for safe keeping
