I love it, and so will that lucky little girl! If you really want to upgrade from the shoe boxes, someone recently posted a link to a free pattern for fabric storage boxes, and you could custom size them to fit the shelf space - just an idea. I have lost track of the link, but it's not rocket science (for a quilter, anyway) to sew a box, and you can use plastic canvas or recycled cardboard to give it body. I think the design I saw had pockets that let the plastic or cardboard be removed for machine washing.

What a great idea. Looking forward to seeing the clothes you make.

Wonderful! She will love it and you for making it. Hope you'll be with her when she opens her present.

Got a doll for little granddaughter. I am hoping to make clothes and such for it for her Christmas gift this year. I decided I needed a place to put all these clothes I WILL be making LOL. So after looking on things to purchase (please, it's a doll), we made this!! I saw a 2 shelf 32X32 bookcase at Staples, on sale $24.99. Lowered the shelf and added a rod to hang up clothes (wooden shower rod holders). Put shoe boxes on bottom to hold undies and little things (not perfect just what I had on hand, need to keep looking). TA-DA!!

Sue just cute as can be
Blessed day Ellen |
Brilliant, now at least I have an idea for making my granddaughter one for her birthday when I get her a 'big' doll to play with. She has a bunch of small baby dolls, but I want to make her one that is soft and that she can dress and put diapers on.

THIS is just ingenious! I have my 31 yr old daughter's 2 American girl dolls packed away, just waiting for my little grand daughter to get old enough to play with them. THIS is exactly like something I could do to hold the clothing too.. I may become a copycat... You just made a ton of folks happy with this post. I have a couple of years as grand-baby is only 16 mo.
Where did you get the hangers? |
Cool idea! I bet she keep it forever!
