Ok, I'm FINALLY in a house.
We have our express shipment, which isn't much, but it did contain my destop, so I'm a happy camper. Just wished I had packed a sewing machine in it.
We have phone and internet connected and DTV gets connected tomorrow.
The BIG shipment of our stuff arrives on Monday and then on Wed, I am off to get Lauren and the babies and come back here.

Jim's Gem 06-02-2010 06:06 PM

YEA!!! I bet it feels great to be finally settled in somewhere!!!!!

sewcrafty 06-02-2010 06:06 PM

How exciting!!! Good luck with everything!!

roseOfsharon 06-02-2010 06:07 PM

Happy to hear you are getting settled!

Farmer Girl 06-02-2010 06:08 PM

So happy for you, girl. Hate to move, let alone do it on a regular basis like you do! Sounds like things are finally moving along for you. Will be nice to be so much closer to those babies. Welcome stateside!

tlrnhi 06-02-2010 06:14 PM

It would be MUCH nicer if Bill would be here when they bring our big shipment. It will be Courtney and I to make sure everthing gets put in the room that it belongs in and to make sure ALL boxes come out of the crates. Not a fun job, but we do manage.

JJs 06-02-2010 06:27 PM

hmmmm I'm wondering if you want to change the "somewhere I don't want to be..." for your location? At least you are closer to the BABIES!!

sewgull 06-02-2010 06:33 PM

Welcome home. I am sending the good faries to unpack and place all you household goods for you.

tlrnhi 06-02-2010 06:33 PM

Well? Right now I really don't want to be here. Might change my mind once we get our furniture and such.

RedGarnet222 06-02-2010 06:39 PM

Well welcome back stateside and into your new house. Glad to see you posting again teri.

tlrnhi 06-02-2010 06:43 PM

I'll be on and off. Trying to catch up on threads but have missed so much.

It's nice to be back and will be even nice once I get my machine.

sharon b 06-02-2010 07:00 PM

There is no place like home  Well at least its not a hotel

tlrnhi 06-02-2010 07:02 PM

So glad it's not a hotel. At one point I was beginning to think we'd never find a place to live. Then this place was advertised on Craigslist and we drove by it. Didn't look like much from the outside, but when we made the appointment to look at the inside, we were very pleased. Especially with the space I have for a sewing room!

Tink's Mom 06-02-2010 07:04 PM

Glad your getting settled in...too bad about the sewing machine!
You could have been setting up your sewing room.
Bet the cats are happy!

Rhonda 06-02-2010 07:13 PM

How far are you from the babies and Lauren now? It takes time to settle in but you are an expert at it! We moved 22 times in the first 20 yrs. Not the service just for various reasons.
I liked moving as it gave us a fresh start and I liked finding things when I packed that I had forgotten I had. But I am glad to not be moving anymore. We moved on average every 2 yrs but we have been here now for 15 yrs, Sometimes I think about it and it seems so strange to have been in the same place so long.

Can't wait to see more pictures of the babies!!! Bet they have really grown!!

tlrnhi 06-02-2010 07:21 PM

Cats are adjusting. I think they finally figured we are here for a while. Things have been put away and we are in seperate rooms, so I think they know we are staying put for a while.

Lauren and the babies are about 10 hours away. BUT..it only takes about 2 hours to fly and then an hour drive to get to them. Flying is much cheaper than driving to them since it would take me 2 days to drive to her. I don't drive well in the dark.

Wine Woman 06-02-2010 07:23 PM

I hope you can settle in and relax a bit! Moving is just too much work!

Gramof6 06-02-2010 07:30 PM

Wecome into your new home. I hope the getting all settled in will go smoothly and fast! Nothing like being all unpacked and setting up your home. And getting to enjoy your grandbabies. That is probably the best part.

b.zang 06-02-2010 07:40 PM

Once the place begins to smell right you'll feel more at home.

Sure would be nice to see some pictures of the new digs.

tlrnhi 06-02-2010 07:50 PM

Once I get the bathroom painted, I'll get some pictures. The front yard needs TONS of TLC, but once we get things done inside, I can concentrate on the outside. All the other lawns here are mancured and ours just looks horrid. I'd love to get out there and start on it now, but Bill says not until we get the inside done. He's such a party pooper!

amma 06-02-2010 07:54 PM

Woo Hoo!!! You are IN the house :D:D:D Glad to hear it is all going according to the plan!!!

tlrnhi 06-02-2010 07:56 PM

So nice to be IN the house.
Just want my furniture so I can sleep in MY OWN bed and have my sewing machine. Dang do I miss her!

craftybear 06-02-2010 08:41 PM

awesome, welcome to your new home

Terri,
I think you have a wonderful new home and you will be very happy once the dust has settled. It sucks to unpack, but it is great to sleep in your own bed, sit on your own couch, and have your own sewing room calling to you.

If I could help, I would. Instead, I'm sending positive, loving, sympathetic thoughts..... feel the hugs???

Darlene 06-03-2010 03:05 AM

So happy to hear you found a place and will be settled in soon.

reneebobby 06-03-2010 03:35 AM

Welcome home Terri and I know you and Court will have the house put together in no time. The military has a way of doing that to us ladies. hehehe Anyhow can't wait to see all your sewing again.

Jim's Gem 06-03-2010 10:15 AM

I have had to take delivery of our furniture shipment and get the house set up by myself at least 5 or 6 times. A couple of those moves were not pleasant!!!

reach for the stars 2 06-03-2010 10:48 AM

Happy to hear things are going well. I was without a computer for a few days and was going bonkers. Hope everything comes in one piece.

lfw045 06-03-2010 10:50 AM

Glad you are finally in your new home. You'll be all settled in in no time....you'll see ;^)

MadQuilter 06-03-2010 11:59 AM

Welcome Home Terri and happy unpacking. Enjoy the visit with your family and have a safe trip.

FancyFoot 06-03-2010 01:54 PM

Welcome home...Now you can change your location :) :) :) :) :) :)

tlrnhi 06-03-2010 03:17 PM

Thanks everyone.
It is finally nice to start settling in.
Got Directtv today, so at least we have some other noise in the house other than us.
Bill is loving all the sports channels. I think I'm going to Parental Control them on him. lmao

Unpacking will be fine. We will have the kitchen pretty much done before I leave on Wed, then while I am gone, Bill will have the livingroom and our bedroom done.
Lauren and I will finish the rest when we get back on the 12th

Leota 06-03-2010 03:19 PM

Yippppeeeee !!!! I know that feels good.
You will have your sewing machine and house set up in no time.

mountain deb 06-04-2010 05:27 AM

Been there done that I can not tell how many times..

sandpat 06-04-2010 06:05 AM

Awww Terri....I can see the light at the end of the tunnel AND its NOT a train this time! Yippee! This part will be over before you know it and all will be back to normal. The best part this time is that you are stateside and that much closer to babies...so smile!!! Its getting better!

aliaslaceygreen 06-04-2010 06:11 AM

Welcome home!!! It was Newport News, right??? You'll be all settled in and ready in February for the Hampton quilt show!!!

mjsylvstr 06-04-2010 07:03 AM

I will bet that you and courtney will have the place ship-shape before you know it.

Men are great for moving...but it takes that female touch for the rest......

Good luck and let's see the sewing room when all is settled.....

MaryJane

littlehud 06-04-2010 12:29 PM

I'm so happy you have found a place and are in the process of getting settled. It's good to have you back.

ekbuckeye 06-04-2010 03:12 PM

Glad you're back in the states! The only good thing I found about moving so much with the military is that you get to do a clean-out every few years. Our last move was from Puerto Rico and the movers and packers complained the whole time that we had too much stuff for 2 people. And stole my sewing machine.

But it's exciting to get your own stuff and get rid of the loaner furniture and, even fun unpacking and putting everything away!

Debra Mc 06-04-2010 05:35 PM

Glad your home. Where did you end up this time? I can't remember. If somebody stole my sewing machine I would hunt them down like radar. You don't mess with mama's toys.
