My DDIL cannot wait for the school year to end, she is counting the days. Many years ago teachers got three months off. She tells me she only gets about two. How times have changed. Just want all teachers out there to know that you are special individuals and we appreciate all that you do. Have a great summer!

grammydar 05-17-2011 04:08 PM

I know my kids teachers can't wait.
I know my kids can't wait either, I just want some nice weather so we can do somethings outside.

Well - I work at a year - long school. Only the month of July off.
I'm not counting down the days - yet.

jetnica 05-17-2011 04:22 PM

I have 8 days with kids and 2 teacher days left at the high school. I'm hoping that the university calls me for summer sessions. :)

I absolutely adore my students. It's some if the "adults" that make teaching a real job.

Grandkids are in school until June 9th, but the two young ones will only have a month and a half off. They are in a school that goes for 45 days on and 15 days off for the rest of the time.

I certainly am counting down the days! I teach Kdg. We have 15 to go (thanks to those pesky snow/ice days we are making up). Last student day is all day on Weds. June 8. Then teachers have a half-day workday on the 9th. We do have a field trip to the zoo and track and field day coming up. I have tons of paperwork to do, testing to finish, inventory to take care of, and we (the kdg team) are involved in the selection process for hiring a new kdg teacher to replace one who is retiring. Oh, yeah...and I will be out of the room for RTI tomorrow afternoon. It is a busy time of the year...and to top it off, my DD is getting married on June 18!

I have 23 days left but 4 are for exams and 2 are after the kids leave.

I just started my count down because I teach AP Calc and we had our countdown to the AP exam on May 4th. We already have the countdown for next year's AP exam.

I am so jealous of all the retired people here. I have been teaching since I got out of school in 1977. Dh wants to leave in 2 years and I want 4 years. we shall see what happens but it is coming soon.

I was thinking about taking a course this summer but I think I have decided against it. I think I need the summer to help dh paint the house and to quilt.

12 more days with students and 4 more days after that. But who's counting LOL? I'm moving to another grade, so I have some packing to do. I only have one year before I can retire, but have a kid in college so I'll probably stick with it for a few more. Have wonderful summers, teacher friends!

booklady 05-17-2011 06:11 PM

16 more days. We had to add snow and flood days this year!

Fritzy 05-17-2011 08:55 PM

I'm not a teacher but I'm counting! I'm a lunch lady & we only have 7 days left! Yeah! The kids have been wild & noisy & are eating us out of house & home. After the very long winter we had everyone is ready for summer vacation if summer ever gets here!!!!

b.zang 05-17-2011 09:01 PM

How many days until June 29? That's my last day, and the end of this job. Next year I'll be the behaviour specialist for the school district and travel to all the schools. It will be very different to not have my own home school.

tellabella 05-17-2011 09:34 PM

I am hanging on by a thread...getting tired..patience is running out...finals coming up...22 days of classes before exams...but it has been a good year...

Next year could technically be my last "full" year of teaching as I can retire the following year in Nov..but I will probably go at the end of the school year...but, it is great to know that I can go...

wow...where have the years...there are 3 or 4 teachers at my school that have been teaching for a few years that we my students and I taught them several years ago...

pab58 05-17-2011 09:52 PM

I'm counting down, but only because I'm so tired of the road construction I have to deal with every day!

I just love my sweet students, and I always miss them over the summer vacation. I always start getting excited when the end of the year is near because I have so many ideas that keep popping into my head for next years activities, lessons, etc. :D

Our last day is June 9. My students have their final exams from June 6-8.

Retired in '95 but certainly remember those hectic days at the end of the year.
Our daughter is a kindergarten teacher in AbuDhabi and is counting the days until school is out and she can come home. The only time we get to see her is in the summer so we are counting the days too!

We've been lucky in a way that the weather is so unusually cool and rainy up here. Keeps the kids more focused. When it gets hot, watch out.
I really, really hope I don't have to move my classroom this year. Did last spring. What a job. Still finding things...

We love our head lunch lady! Your comment about the kids eating you out of house and home made me laugh. You all are an important part of our school systems, too.

Rain is predicted for all this week so we'll have our fill of indoor recess, it looks like..

Getting closer....am dreaming of entering my sewing space again and stitching up a storm!

jetnica 05-27-2011 07:27 AM

Today is the lady day with students!!!!!

Two teacher workdays next wrk and then summer!!

Lol except I am changing rooms. So the first week of summer I am painting the new room, then buying bookshelves and building them, then moving and organizing all of the scripts, texts, an other stuff into a new, smaller space.

Looks like I'll spend all of June at school, unpaid. Lol. I usually work retail in the summer to get a handle on my bills.

:)

lots2do 05-28-2011 09:22 AM

Jessica -
I hate moving rooms. I've done it too many times in the last eight years. Am keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get moved again this year. Good luck to you!

Well, I'm down to one more full day. Final exams are this coming Monday and run through Thursday. They are 1/2 days, but I will stay around to grade my exams and do my report forms. Tomorrow night is high school graduation so it will be a long day for me! I never come home because I would hit rush hour traffic/construction traffic on the way back. I simply stay through until it's over. I should get home at around 9:00. Whew!! I'm already tired!

carolynbb 06-02-2011 04:35 PM

8 days left!!! Hip-Hip-Horay!! Yes sir, I'm counting.

booklady 06-02-2011 04:41 PM

5 days with lots of work! The new circulation desk for my library is being delivered on Monday so that will be exciting!
