Hi all,
I have about 26 days not counting weekend days. I should have 28 but need to take two days off for various reasons. I love thinking about the break coming up but hate thinking about getting all of the paperwork done and the room packed up. Oh, and I have the sweetest class, for the most part, but they are getting rowdy!
Rain is predicted for all this week so we'll have our fill of indoor recess, it looks like..
:)

sewcrafty 05-16-2011 02:48 AM

Remember those days from when I susbtitute taught! Remember only 26 more days. LMAO

frauhahn 05-16-2011 03:37 AM

This is the first year I'm not doing the count-down-I'm totally enjoying it!!! Usually I'd be panicking by now to get exams ready and worried about how I'd get everything packed up. I usually left the following Tuesday after school closed to take a group of kids on a three week exchange to Germany-talk about stress!!

mizkyp 05-16-2011 04:59 AM

I am down to 17 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kooklabell 05-16-2011 05:06 AM

I'm OUT!! LOL Just graduation this coming Saturday. Yeah! The quilting has begun.

susie0808 05-16-2011 05:27 AM

I'm down to 24 days!!!

2 Doods 05-16-2011 05:33 AM

No summer break here....I am in the District Office. We do switch to 4 day weeks so I'll have Fridays off through the summer. Looking forward to that! And some sunshine~if it ever gets here!

isnthatodd 05-16-2011 05:41 AM

18 days total, 10 (or less) with students, then I am out the door for good (but who's counting LOL)

AngieS 05-16-2011 05:43 AM

My oldest son graduates 8th grade this week! Wednesday is his last day of school! I can't believe that I am the mother of a HIGH SCHOOLER!!! YIKES!

ohiobuckeye 05-16-2011 06:15 AM

12 days after today! Thank Goodness!

TShooters 05-16-2011 06:51 AM

Thank you for all you do, Teachers! Enjoy your summer!

DD is a choir teacher and she's been counting down since last August. ;-) She's really stressed right now with a musical production premiering in just a few days. Had Mom (me) stressing over sewing a costume. Hoping it all turns out well for her.

This is the first time in 40 years that I have not had to count down the days. I was a school librarian and always was faced with doing inventory in the last days of school. Now I'm retired and am enjoying taking care of my grandson 2 days a week. What an awesome opportunity for me. Wish my daughter could have had the same care from a grandma when she was growing up.I can recommend retirement for everyone!

azdesertrat 05-16-2011 08:07 AM

my girls have only this week left and then they graduate high school on the 25th! they cannot wait

Kelly R 05-16-2011 09:45 AM

I just discovered last week that Joanne fabrics has a 15% discount card for teachers! Do others know about this? The discount is good for both regular and sale prices and can be added to other coupons.

Jennifer22206 05-16-2011 11:20 AM

30 left for me! :) But 5 days of that are exams, and two are teacher only. :)

gmaybee 05-16-2011 07:00 PM

I'm not a teacher but work in the library/media center. We have 18 days. We are closing one of our elementary buildings at the end of this school year. The fifth grade will move into the middle school where I work, and preschool- fourth will be in the other elementary. A lot of changes are coming and I'm looking forward to it. It's going to be a lot of work moving part of the elementary library to my building, but we need lower level books brought in for the younger students coming.

lots2do 05-17-2011 01:31 AM

It's fun to read about when different parts of the country get out! Hope you all don't have to work too hard over the summer and can get some serious sewing in. I have a mini graduate class in July and am going to sit on my hands when they have people sign up for extra summer curriculum work. I've done it for a while and lately, regret it.

This Bus Driver has 9 days, count 'em, 9 days and yes I am counting. Had a rough year this year when our school burnt to the ground. Glad I work for a wonderful district and we have pulled through. Looking forward to next year when the new building get started and hopefully FINISHED!

sandyo 05-17-2011 03:29 AM

I'm at 12, Day off for Son's wedding, Still alot to get done!

caspoohbear 05-17-2011 04:20 AM

I'm a PT in the schools, and even though I work all summer back at the hospital, I have been ocunting the days for about two months! I love my kids, but one of my schools is 80minutes drive each way.

Kimcatlou 05-17-2011 04:53 AM

Oh yes, I remember the wonderful yearly ending of school. After 28 years of teaching (with 10 years off to rear my children--well, I did continue to rear them) I retired in 1992.
As we teachers waved goodbye to the buses and cars, the school secretary always put the "Halleluja Chorus" on the PA system. What fun!
Be prepared--as impossible as it seems, I tend to be even busier since I retired! Involvement in volunteer activities, various projects for family, quilting, etc.
Good luck and have fun in your retirement!

Oh, yes--I have 2 daughters still teaching. I sometimes get involved in helping them at school.

so glad I retired 2 years ago -- but I remember those days!

Nanaof4 05-17-2011 06:42 AM

25 days for me. Let the quilting begin!

Naturalmama 05-17-2011 06:47 AM

Does homeschool count? We officially go into June, but depending on how hard we work, we'll be done in about 11 days!!

fivepaws 05-17-2011 07:35 AM

I know that our daughter can hardly wait. She loves teaching and will be teaching summer school, Bible School and Saturday school. Do you think it is in her blood? Not my side of the family but DH comes from a long line of teachers. I don't know how anyone has the patience. You are all admirable.

jitkaau 05-17-2011 07:45 AM

Been retired from that for 7 restful years...

collady 05-17-2011 07:54 AM

I am just counting until Friday. The gs I am raising graduates then. I retired 3 years ago and am SO glad! :) I counted the last year from Thanksgiving week, when I turned in my intention to retire letter to the superintendent!

dinlauren 05-17-2011 01:26 PM

8 days left and I have to pack up my room because I am moving up to kindergarten with this pre-k class.....should be a blast..we have really bonded and they are a sweet class willing to work hard. Can hardly wait for the school year to start, but in the meantime I have lots of packing, reading and unpacking to do.

teacherbailey 05-17-2011 01:48 PM

This is my last week and I have three more days with the kids!!!!!! It's almost time for my long quilting break for the year!!!!!

meanmom 05-17-2011 02:32 PM

I have been counting down.My school has an end of the year alphabet countdown. Today was O day. It was a little extra outside fun. we do something little every day until the Z. I don't know all of them but on A day the kids can bring a small stuffed animal. L day was lollipop day. It is a kindergarten thru 5 th grade school very cute. I can't wait until Z day. I am ready for a break

lots2do 05-17-2011 02:36 PM

Oh I love that alphabet idea! DH is retiring after one more year. He's informed me of how many days he has left (total, counting the schooldays for next year, too) and how many I have if I can retire when I want to (728). Phew, not sure I wanted to know that!!!

We have about 23 left. I'm starting to pack my bag for all the work I do over the summer(summers off, hah). We're having summer school in my building so I need to lock everything up so it is still there in Sept. (what a pain).

Today was my last class day. Now all I have left to do is get the grades into the office. College starts earlier, but we get out early too. Thankful for a break.

Robinmg 05-17-2011 03:31 PM

I don't get a summer break. I work at a youth correctional facility and we have school 12 months a year. I do have a couple weeks vacation coming up though.

quiltmaker52 05-17-2011 03:48 PM

I'm a high school math teacher and have 7 days left with students (3 of them are testing days), then 2 post-planning days. Last day for teachers is the day after Memorial Day. Only 1 year, 7 days left till retirement!!!!!
