Any recommendations for an electric toothbrush?

Had my teeth cleaned today and hygienist suggested I try one to help prevent plaque.

We like the Water Pik.

Did the hygienist recommend a brand?

She mentioned two brands Sonic and Oral B, both have multiple choices.....Confusing to say the least!!

I have used a Sonicare toothbrush for 22 years now. I have replaced it twice because the battery quit working. I always get a very good report from my hygenist and my dentist. My husband uses one too. We both can't recommend a Sonicare highly enough. Both of us drink tea and red wine and you'd never know it. I also purhased a Waterpik about 5 years ago and love it too.

My dh and I like the Sonicare. Dd prefers the Oral B because it has a smaller brush head. They're both good; it really comes down to personal preference.

I asked a dental hygienists about Water Piks and electric toothbrushes. They're both good, but they are not interchangeable. She recommended using both. The issue I have with the Water Pik is that it is quite messy to use.

Also, neither the electric toothbrush or the Water Pik eliminate the need to floss at least once a day.

We use the Orab B Vitality brushes. They have replaceable heads which are not too expensive, 3 for $18.00 on Amazon.

I like the Oral B since it has a small round head so I can get in the back better. The dentist told me I had a little mouth and DH laughed hysterically at that:) The last ones I purchased from Amazon since they were even cheaper than Walmart. Brush heads are cheaper on Amazon too. You'll love an electric toothbrush, it makes your teeth feel cleaner.

I have used the Oral B for years. I buy the bigger head for it....I guess I have a bigger mouth :-/ It does a great job..
