Thanks for starting this thread. I had never heard of flylady until now. I just checked out what you're talking about. What a great plan. That's why I LOVE this QB. I have learned so much since joining. Thanks & hugs to everyone here!

I've never heard of FlyLady either till I read it here. Interesting. I'll have to give it a try.

Thanks for starting this thread. I had never heard of this system before but saw your message just after telling my husband that we needed a system now that were both retired because our other activities were taking over.

You can sign up to just get the e-mails as a digest. That works really well for me. One of her sayings is: "Your house didn't get messy in a day so don't expect to get it clean in a day!" Even if you only add one thing per month eventually you will have routines that work for you and it is amazing what a difference it makes. You do most of it on auto-pilot which makes it almost like having a maid!!

Maybe this will help---Two years ago I found out my Dad was dying of cancer. I don't know why, because I had been trying to get "up in the air" for about 8 years, and had never been able to stick with it....but anyway, I needed something to focus on, besides Dad. Especially in the evenings, or I couldn't sleep.

So I decided I didn't want to look at or smell that pile of dirty dishes in the morning when I woke up, because it was just too depressing. I started washing the dishes every night, just so I wouldn't have to be more depressed in the morning.

It felt so good to walk into the kitchen and see that clean sink, instead of looking at that nasty mess!! Then I started setting up the coffee maker so all I had to do was hit the brew button...wow! Really nice!!!

Is my house spotless? NO WAY! But I have managed to teach myself that if the sink is free of dirty dishes/pots/pans before I go to bed and coffee is ready to brew, my whole day goes a little smoother. In these last two years, I have missed only three nights, and one of those was when my blood sugar had dropped too low and I passed out on the kitchen floor...so I guess I kinda had an excuse that night.

The rest of my house gets the "fly treatment" intermittantly, but I'm O.K. with that. Because the other thing I had learned from this, is that when I do need to "clean it up in a hurry", I don't need to panic. I just take "baby steps", do one thing at a time, work steady, and it will get done.

Try just the sink first. It will make you feel good!

I just joined last week and so far so good. I like it. Helps me realize I do not have to be perfect. I can do a little in the closet without doing the entire closet....you get the idea. I get the emails but don't always read everything. I read my assignment for the day. Try it.

I get a daily email - and I daily delete it. I know I should at least read it for reminders.... it did work great when I followed it. I suppose the time I spend here could be put to more productive use.... aw, now I'm gonna feel guilty that my house is such a mess....

I haven't done the emails in a few years, and back then, there were no sales ads. That would really annoy me, and it'll keep me from signing up again for emails. What a shame! She said she wouldn't do it for profit, so why push all those ads at us?
