Saturday night we[DH & myself] were in a motorcycle accident. We were riding down a back road in Nashville In.Suddenly a thought ran thru my mind."If I get home alive I'm never going to get on this again".Next thing I knew I was sliding down the pavement landing in the ditch.I got road rash[hate that word] on one knee.Few dings here and there. No broken bones or stitches,Thank God,DH has a bad bruise on his hip and sprained his leg
So,the bike is going.

cashmommy11 06-07-2010 12:24 PM

so glad for the most part you guys are ok ..

Pam 06-07-2010 12:24 PM

I KNOW I have "it". Just yesterday I used it again. I do not know what would have happened if I turned on that road, but went the other way and made it home safe. Just a creepy feeling.

Janetlmt 06-07-2010 12:25 PM

Thank the dear LORD that you were not hurt more seriously. I do beleive in premonitions..it has happened to me many, many times. Always listen to them..

craftybear 06-07-2010 12:26 PM

glad you are okay, yes this happened to me the day my husband got his kidney and pancreas transplant

Glad to hear that you weren't more seriously injured in your accident.

I haven't really had any experience with premonitions myself.

sharon b 06-07-2010 12:33 PM

Or the feeling that you have already done ... something... even though you know you never had

Marjpf 06-07-2010 12:38 PM

I have premonitions, and they really creep me out. None are ever about me, but they are about my loved ones. Like knowing my sister would have two boys before she was ever pregnant (that was a nice one), or knowing I would not have to buy a birthday gift for my father 6 months before he died (not a nice one).
I am glad you both walked away with only scratches and bruises. You were very fortunate.

Jim's Gem 06-07-2010 12:42 PM

I'm glad that you're "ok"

Sugarpumpkin 06-07-2010 12:47 PM

Hand a similar thing happen to me.
Three weeks before my wedding I had a job interview. I brought flip-flops to change into afterwards for more comfortable walking but was so excited after the interview I didnt change my shoes. Was walking down the stairs to the subway when I had this feeling that I was going to fall down the stairs.
Low and behold a few seconds later I went tumbling down until I reached the landing (probably about 10 stairs). I had grabbed the metal and railing to slow my fall, but the way I caught it made my lurch side ways where I hit my face on the metal rail at the landing.
Thankfully, no broken teeth or bones, just a split lip that healed in time for my wedding day!

If I hadn't had that feeling that I was going to fall, I wouldn't have reached for the railing and it could have been much worse!

redquilter 06-07-2010 12:57 PM

Oh yes. Most definitely. I've had many - some good, some not so good. Now when I tell my husband about a feeling a have - he listens! Glad you are both relatively OK. Glad the bike is going!

truckers wife 06-07-2010 12:58 PM

I get a lot of these "feelings".Dont listen to them often enough.

clem55 06-07-2010 01:07 PM

Oh yes! Years ago I had the feeling all day that I must get things done in a hurry to leave on our annual visit with family. That trip was two weeks away, but I couldn't slow myself down. While doing the supper dishes, I 'heard my dad say "MOM needs you". My dad was dead. Before the dishes were finsihed, the phone rang and I knew it was something wrong with my mom. She was extremely sick , taken to hospital, and they didn'T think she would live through surgery. Because everything was ready to go, I was able to leave in a few hours and was with my mom when she reached the recovery room. I lived in KY., she was in Oregon. So yep, pay attention to those feelings!

amandasgramma 06-07-2010 01:15 PM

SO glad you're okay. Five years ago my friend was severely injured in a bike accident. She's STILL having trouble with her ankle. DH and I used to ride....but after he saw her, and then we almost went down on a ride to Reno, he's put it away.....hasn't sold it, but hasn't ridden.....:)

dglvr 06-07-2010 01:25 PM

Yes sometimes I have premonitions. You sit back and think wow that was weird.
Glad you both are doing as well as you are. You were wearing your helmets right? Some states like Idaho don't have a helmet law. When I go to Idaho I can't believe the amount of riders with no helmet. I had a crash 30 years ago and the only reason why I'm still here is my helmet. Can;t beleive I still ride.
I don't remember anything about the accident though. Sometimes I wish I did. I probably wouldn't ride now.
I am going to sell my motorcycle. I can't afford to go down.
My back is bad enough. Maybe I'll do that today. Put it up for sale.
Glad your okay. ;)

I agree!!! Always listen to them!!! They have kept me alert and safe many times!! My ex and I were getting closer to an extended vacation from Michigan to California. I had been so looking forward to the trip, but about 1 1/2 weeks before we were to leave I started to feel really nervous about it. I just could not shake the feelings I was having. They were so powerful that I was tempted not to go the trip! Well, the day came when we were to leave. I always drove everywhere we went, and I did the same on that day. The nevous feeling stayed with me. We were outside Chicago when I noticed in my side and rear view mirrors that a car was driving really wild. It was in the far left lane, and I was in the lane next to that. There was a young woman driving and she had two passengers with her. The car would weave back and forth in and out of the left lane nearly hitting the cement median several times. The backseat passenger was being tossed from side to side!! I eased over, but the car came into my lane. No matter what I did that car kept getting closer and closer to me!!! At one time I felt the wheels of the van I was driving leave the pavement!! I held on for dear life and just kept praying!!! She ended up "pushing" me all the way over to the right lane and onto the shoulder! There was one time when I could have put my hand out the window and touched her car! The entire time this was going on all of them were laughing!!! I was so terrified! As I was trying to get back onto the highway I noticed that there was no traffic except in front of me and quite a distance behind me! I got back into the right-hand lane and tried to get close to her to get her license number, but when she saw me, she quickly got off at the nearest exit!! Well, after this long story my point is that after that incident my nervous feeling was completely gone, and it never returned the entire trip!! I believe it was God protecting me so that I would be expecially alert, keep both hands on the steering wheel and be extra cautious about everyone! I am a very careful driver, and I always watch "the other guy," but during this particular drive I was even more alert than I usually am.

Listen to those feelings!!!!! They will protect you!!!! 8-)

Janetlmt 06-07-2010 02:17 PM

Sugarpumpkin...I love you avatar..so cool..I feel like that some days...LOOPY..giggle

craftybear 06-07-2010 02:22 PM

yes, please listen to your feelings

Luv Quilts and Cats 06-07-2010 02:23 PM

I am so glad you both were not seriously hurt. I believe in premonitions. I also call it listening to my gut. There's just that little voice telling you be careful or watch out. And I pay attention to it.

littlehud 06-07-2010 02:27 PM

I get those a lot. I have learned to listen too. They are usually right on.

ginnie6 06-07-2010 03:12 PM

sometimes I do. I did not grow up with my bio dad....I met him when I was 30 and the night before I did I dreamed about our meeting. I had only ever seen a pic of him when he and my mother married so I was just shocked when he looked exactly like I had dreamed. I also have an uncanny (dh says) sense about whether people are "good" or not. Years ago when he managed an auto parts store he said he was just going to ahve me do interviews for him so he's have good employees.

quiltinghere 06-07-2010 03:24 PM

Yes and I call them MY ANGELS!!! and I listen!

quilter68 06-07-2010 03:29 PM

Yes, I believe in premonitions. Two many to count.

I also saw the road come up to meet my arm and never rode again.

marsye 06-07-2010 03:35 PM

Must have been your wake up call..........Glad you guys are ok :D

If you're talking about deja vu the answer is yes! Not sure I've ever had too many premonitions though. But definitely gut feelings, as someone else pointed out.
So glad you escaped a worse injury. I've worked in trauma and those things scare me to death.

Moonpi 06-07-2010 04:43 PM

I learned long ago that trouble happens when I do not listen to them. Does anyone have any ideas on how to control them? Mine seem to come in waves, most frequently when I am under major stressors.

sewgull 06-07-2010 04:52 PM

Glad you both are all in one piece.
I always listen that inner voice, I know my guardian angels are taking care of me and my family.

no1jan 06-07-2010 05:02 PM

I get them but not that often.

But my Dad got them all the time. When I was in the 2nd grade we were watching the news and my father's face went totally white and sweat was pouring off his face. On the news was John F Kennedy, and my father said "He's going to be shot!"

The next day at school we had an announcement that the President had been shot and were let out of school.

I cried all the way home thinking my Dad had shot him as he had a collection of guns and rifles. We lived in California. But I didn't realize that it was so far away.

Also when he passed away, he had been in a coma for 3 months because of bone and lung cancer. Before he went into the coma, he couldn't get enough breath to talk and if he moved, he would break a bone.

The day he died, my Mom went in to visit him and he sat up in bed and said with a strong voice "You've come for me!"
As she approached she realized he wasn't looking at her but the corner of the room. She left and when she walked through the door of her house, the phone was ringing as he had just passed away.

I believe these are Angels also!

roseOfsharon 06-07-2010 05:08 PM

I am happy that you and your husband are ok. I think many have premonitions or the feeling that we have done this before or even met someone before. Maybe we are in a second , third or so forth life :) like reincarnated!

granniebj 06-07-2010 05:32 PM

I'm so glad u didn't get hurt any worse!

SuziC 06-07-2010 05:34 PM

Oh my goodness....glad you're ok!!!!!

kbiederman 06-07-2010 08:56 PM

So glad you're "ok"! That "feeling" has happened to my so many times. Two weeks ago, I was driving my dd to school, and just after going through a 4-way stop, I saw a pick-up at the edge of a hardware store parking lot. There was a big work truck and trailer parked on the curb between us and he didn't see me. In that split second that he was out of my view behind the other truck, I got that weird feeling and all the hair on the back of my neck stood up. He pulled out right into us. I only had the time to swerve as hard as I could. If I hadn't done that he would have smashed right into my 2yr old sons door. Everyone was totally ok, the passenger window blew out and scared us pretty badly but we're OK! Pay extra attention when your intuition speaks to you, its always right.

Lisanne 06-07-2010 09:13 PM

Yes, I've had plenty of premonitions in my life, so I certainly believe in them.

I'm very glad that you had this one and got through it as well as you did!

Sheila Elaine 06-07-2010 09:19 PM

My Mother had them, now I have them & since in my 40s & I'm 62 now, so get a few funny looks from my Son, grand kids & friends. I'm going, Oh no, they think I've lost it, again!

stitchinwitch 06-08-2010 02:19 AM

I am so glad you are ok. There are so many (seniors included) out there that love riding their Harleys. A couple weeks after my daughter got married, she went on a ride with her husbands best friend. On the busy road outside Springfield MO the bike skidded, they were thrown - his leg came off. She still had her leg but it has been over 2 years and she is still in pain, about 1/4 of the front of her leg is missing. To top it off, her husband walked out on her when she was still in the hospital. I just am scared of bikes now even tho my 60 yo sil rides her Harley all over the US.

If it helps you to sell...three years ago, my DH was on his going maybe 25 and slowing for a red light. Two lanes and there was a car in the inside lane, behind him on his left.
When the light changed before they got to it, the guy in the car, going to a laundrymat, decided he couldn't wait to turn in, (which was on the right), so he whipped past my hubby, cut him off and went right on in the parking lot, got out, got his laundry and proceeded in the store.
Meanwhile, my husband hit his brakes to avoid hitting the right back bumper/taillight, fell and slid...helmet - absolutely...and broke two ribs, almost puncturing his lung, and was badly bruised all up and down his right side, and stunned badly.
The police called me and put him on the phone, bc he was denying an ambulance.
I jumped in the car!
Somebody that saw the accident had to go in the laundrymat and get the guy that left him on the wet road!!!
I got there and as soon as I saw my husband I knew I had better figure out some fancy talk fast, bc he was going to the hospital, one way or another.
We went. That event triggered a build up of fluids in his lungs, until he had to have surgery for the left one bc he was drowning.
It was almost FULL!
Stuff and stuff, and from December 06 to November 07, he went down until he became permanently disabled.
He is ok, but not the same and there are other factors, but it was all triggered by that fall from the motorcycle that nearly killed him at 15 mph!

About premonitions...Absolutely I have had more than one and one was so detailed and precise, it wigged me out...but a family knew to unplug their father from all machines, bc of it...
ONLY I don't call mine premonitions.
I believe we all have this sixth sense. Haven't figured out why it only happens sometimes.
I think I only get them when i am open. They have only been about death or warnings of danger!
There is a book by Gavin DeBecker called, "The Gift Of Fear", and I believe the man is on target.
I couldn't finish reading it, too disturbing, but it pays to pay attention to your inner voice, from above.

feline fanatic 06-08-2010 05:51 AM

So glad you weren't more seriously hurt. I am still to passionate about riding so not yet ready to give mine up.

QuiltingGrannie 06-08-2010 06:04 AM

I am so glad you are o.k.

My DH was in MC accident in 1976. WHen they took him to the first hospital they told him they could not help him so the ambulance too him to another hospital.

First they said he wouldn't live

Next they said he would never walk again

Then they said he would never be able to turn his foot to face front again

Then they told him he would be in the hospital about 6 months.

21 DAYS later, in a full cast groin to ankle with 8" metal plate & pins and screws in his leg --- he WALKED out of the hospital.

The next day --- he called a friend to bring he motorcycle over & they went for a ride!

His then wife told him NO MORE MC!

about 10 years later they divorced and he got a motorcycle! I LOVED to ride with him. We don't have one now and part of me still wants to ride, part of me is glad we don't have one.

Doctor told him to get a hobby even if it is m/c riding!

My DH says that if you ride a MC and haven't had a wreck --- just wait your time is coming.

To all who do ride -- RIDE SAFE!

CarrieAnne 06-08-2010 06:33 AM

I'm so glad youre okay! Stitchnwitch, thats so sad! Is your DD okay now?
