You've all outdone me! However, I did put up about 15 pints of tomato sauce over the weekend. I'm hoping to can applesauce and maybe some more tomato sauce before the season ends. There's nothing like knowing exactly what's in your food!

Marge L wrote she still has her ration book, so do I, it was my folks, and wonder if any one remembered them. We know how old that makes us.

Just finished ripe cucumber relish and tomato barley soup. Does anyone know what to do with "lots" of green peppers?

Wow, seeing all this good canning going on sure makes me nostolgic...Not too much to can here in Las Vegas. I learned to can and make jams, chow chow, etc., from the age of about 12. Even canned salmon when my DH and I used to fish out of Brookings, Oregon. Sure do miss seeing all those pretty jars in the pantry...

I love home grown veggies and have had a garden most of my life, but where I live now the soil is sandy and full of nematodes. I have tried everything from pot planting to those topsy turvey things. Because of the 100 degree plus summer temps the potted and bag container don't do well. So I wish I had something to can. Poor Me

I just got my first tomatoes this week. Our spring was late and summer didn't really start until late July. Hope enough ripen before cold weather and frost sets in! :P

I love to can, but since moving to Texas, we have had really crummy weather. In this heat we lost our whole garden.

I did freeze up a bunch of corn on the cob this year. and I have been scouring the internet for new canning recipes. Dil wants some hot jams for next year. She wants cherry jalapeno jam. I have to replace all my canning jars, because we couldn't bring them with us in the truck. I'm wanting to make apricot pineapple jam.
