i am having a garage sale this weekend it is a treasure hunt garage sale.
you get to go through boxes of stuff and trough my garage find your find and make me an off i just can't refuse. it will save me a lot of work sorting and putting things out neatly with a physical dissability it owuld be difficult what dose everone think |
I think if you wanna get rid of your stuff cheap, that's the way to do it. But, if you're wanting to make some money enlist the help of someone so you can get some $$.

Wow..what a clever idea.
I hope you make lots of cash! Let us know how it goes. My daughter's neighborhood yard sales are in June. Maybe we'll do the same thing. |
When I go to garage sales I look for the price. If it's not there I usually leave. I dont' like to haggle!
Sorry, just my opinion. |
I have never heard of this, but it sounds intriguing. Just make sure you have *large*, very explicit signs up that explain each step for the buyer. If I stopped at this kind of garage sale and did not understand what was happening, I would be more likely to leave than to ask what was going on.

Good luck let us know how it goes so that I can try it next time.

Clever idea :D:D:D

I agree with most of the others. I figured that if someone wanted to sell an item then they would price it so make sure you place plenty of signage explaining what you are doing. Remember if you want to get rid of stuff keep the prices low.

i dont' usually ask prices either, i just leave and i absolutely hate when they say, Well what will you give me?
I don't want to insult anyone, but i am ...looking for a great deal :) |
I probably wouldn't dig through boxes at a garage sale. Usually, I'm too much in a hurry to move on to the next sale. What I love, and what has worked for me is a $1 table, a $2 table, a $5 table, etc. And for clothes, a pile of grocery bags and a sign that says, everything you can fit into a bag for $3. Make sure each table had a big sign. But you kinda have to remember what things were on what tables or trust people to tell you where they picked it up.

i started my treasure hunt garage sale today i made 150 dollars so i didnot do to bad some stuff was laid out some asked me how much for the box i gave them, a quote most took it some haggled it was a lot of fun tomarrow is the last day i hope it is as good or better than today

|
Good for you. I love having yard sales, have atleast one a year.
|
Great job on your first day. I hope you do as well the second day.

Good luck with your sale.
I like the idea - but sometimes I have a personal treasure that I would hate to tell someone that they can't have. But then, if it has been out in the garage, and I haven't looked at it for ages, it probably isn't one of my "better" treasures. I sure am wondering how this works out for you. I also prefer to have a price on an item - then I can take it or leave it. The church my Mom used to go to (when she was alive) had something like that. They didn't call it a rummage/garage/yard sale, because people brought in things they no longer wanted, other people took them home, and if they felt like it, they left an "offering" for it. |
Glad you did so good the first day....hope the second is even better.
