I've only ordered from them twice but had the same problem each time. I place the order for the fabric I need for a specific pattern then I receive 1/2 the order with the other's backordered.

The first time this happened I thought it was just a one time thing. I just ordered again and same problem. The first order I waited weeks to begin the pattern only to receive an email from them that it was now out of stock. I expect that to happen again so I'm stuck with fabric I most likely won't use in anything else.

is it Hancock Fabrics? or Hancock's of Paducah? I'm sure if you explain the problem you can return the fabric

Accompany your orders with a note that you want all or none of the order. IF they ship partially, email customer service that you want to return the incorrect order at their expense. Depending on the amount, chances are good they will just refund your money and you'll keep the fabric.

I had that happen at HOP. I ordered a couple of yards of a border print. After a long wait and no communication from them I received 1/2 yard and a note saying that's all they had. What can you do with 1/2 yard of border print? Other places I've ordered from communicate either by email or by phone if there's a question about the order. "We only have 2 rather than 2-1/2 yards. Do you want that?" or "Do you want to wait for your backorder to have everything shipped at once?

HOP is the place and it sounds as if at least one other has had this problem as well. It's frustrating to wait for the order and then not have it all arrive at the same time, if the rest arrives at all.

Next time I will take Jan in VA's advice, all or nothing. A great way to build stash but not good business practice.

I have had this happen to me at HAP. Not my favorite place to order fabric from.

I have ordered from HOP and had no problems and it came quickly. I have not had a problem with Fabric.com either.

I've had this problem also. A number of times, actually. It shows that they have enough yardage in stock, and then after waiting over a week, you only get a partial order. Very frustrating.
