You are all very knowledgeable so I know that someone out there knows what these vines are! They were here when we bought the house 19 years ago. They grow up the lattice work (and all thru the yard!) and have the most beautiful pink bloom. I have tried finding the name but can’t…have seen some that looked pretty close but not exactly!!
Thanks for looking Mary |

Resembles a variety of Clematis I know of as the Belle of Woking. We use to grow Clematis at our place before we moved.
Google "Varieties of Clematis" and see what you get. HTH. |
Don't know, but they sure are pretty! Lucky you!

Here are my purple Clematis

And the leaves are more like a passion flower vine, but not those flowers! Is it fragrant? There are jasmines with that sort of leaf.

Different varieties of Clematis have different foliage. Differing shapes and color foliage.
EDITED: Please bear in mind I am not adamantly stating that what you have IS Clematis, just telling you they resemble some Clematis. |

No matter what you call them, I call them beautiful!
|
Looks like clematis to me...not familiar with the variety though
|
I have no idea, they are pretty though! Have you not got a local garden centre you can take a sample in and ask them?
|
Hi Melissa!
What you have there is Calystegia hederacea ‘Flore Pleno’ Common name Japanese False Bindweed - that's why it's coming up all over your yard! Prettier than the normal bindweed though. Here's a link - good photo but French site http://gardenbreizh.org/photos/Oli/photo-112968.html If you google the full latin name you can find out more about it! I read that it likes moist soil in a sunny position and it can be invasive so best confined to a pot (!). K x |

You're welcome MARY and sorry I called you Melissa! ooopppsss!

( Wouldn't you know that I would wind up with a "weed" )
Ah Mary, but it's a really beautiful weed. Prettier than a lot of "proper" plants! I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I took a trip to Chicago a while back, and one of the arboretums had a big sign telling about the various plants there. One of them was the wild onion. I almost fell down laughing. What they were so proudly touting is a weedy menace in the south! So, enjoy your "weed". I wouldn't mind having weeds that look like that! |

K x I have had these growing on the lattice work for the 19 years that we have lived here and never knew what they were called. As far as I know, no one around has them!!! Never seen any!! I do have the Clematis and one variety that blooms in the later summer called Sweet Autumn and it has the best smell! I will post a picture of it if I can find it! I love flowers and roses too!  If I were in better shape to care for them I would have nothing but!!! Mary |

Here is a picture of the Sweet Autumn Clematis. It blooms later and smells really good!

Whenever you want to do a search to find out whet a plant is, go here. It is a very good spot to find things out.

I do think the pink flowers are pretty and they are on lattice on the fornt and sides of my porch. at least they come up every year! They do spread so I have to transplant them back to the porch! And if I knew how to send them I wold send you some!! |

Mary I think that's Clematis armandii? Smells sweet and the leaves are evergreen if it's not too cold a winter? One of my favourites!

OK - it DOES look like C. armandii - the leaves are glossier and thicker than regular clematis leaves? Maybe you have cold winters! Mine in the UK always lost it's leaves as well.

That could be k3n! Kentucky gets pretty cold sometimes! This year was one of them! And ICE too! Sorta glad that all I needed to get out for was PT! And at that time was only going twice a week! |
I was wondering when it was said it started coming up all over the yard. Not a good thing. It is beautiful, however. I have my own method for deciding if something is a flower or a weed. If you look at it crosswise and it falls over dead, it's a flower (quicker the death, the more expensive the plant). If you can't get it out with a backhoe, it's a weed. No matter how pretty.

LOL Pam - ain't that the truth! If only I could bring myself to like dandelions and nettles, I'd LOVE my garden! K x |
It sure is! I could stand a yard full of weeds like that  [/quote] It is all over the yard! It comes up every year along the porch and also out into the yard. Sometimes I have been transplanting back to the lattice. This year it has come up out beside my little kettle that has another flower and my Hen and Chickens in it. My luck!  |

Your clematis looks like a Jackmani clematis that I have.

I thought it was jackmannii.
Re sending the weed - you could try sending some roots wrapped in damp paper and a plastic bag, in winter when it's dormant. Might work! I had someone once send me some comfrey root like that - now I've got a clump about a yard across! K x |
I'd love a plant, any way you could find out the shipping cost to texas? That is so geogeous. I couldn't read the French site but do know I would love the plant. Will it grow from seeds?
Thanks, gangles |
