Quiltinghere- I agree that some movies NEED to be on the big screen, and Avatar is such a good example We just felt like going to the movies. The theater was practically empty! And it has a lot of movies to choose from. I wonder where people go on Saturday night :)

Haven't been to movies in forever.
I grew up loving Clint Eastwood; diehard cowboy.
Lost something in the translation when he made the monkey movies. My FIL was his personal set driver until he passed away 19 years ago. Several family members met him and were allowed to be extras on movies.
Sue...sent you an email.

I missed the monkey movies. Not sure what they were. May have been when my 3 sons were little. I missed a lot of the outside world at that time !! :D

I guess it was a change he needed to comedy but I thought them plain dumb. I'm sure alot of people liked them; just wasn't me. Loved the cowboy and the hard core cop movies.
Sue maybe you should rent them and see what you think of them.

Dreamer, just emailed you :D
Oh, BTW I have watched Bridges of Madison County only about a million times lol
And we all love his cowboy stuff. Just love that guy!

dreamer2009 11-14-2010 09:26 AM

I know I saw Bridges but with the brain problem I don't remember it...I'm a cheap date.
Did you see 50 First Dates with Drew Barrymore...welcome to my world of brain injury. The only difference is she went to bed each night and forgot where as I remember somethings not right.

Oh yeah, the eyes below the rim of a cowboy hat, that is Clint. And sometimes so few words, but well chosen. I always loved his line in the movie with nun, ' seems to me there is alot of religon practiced here, but no christianity '. True statement in so many ways in real life. I always dreamed of meeting him, silly I know, but a girl can dream.

Grew up seeing every one of his movies in theater. Including second run releases from before my birth. Always respected his Don Siegel esthetic (cheaper is beautiful). He has a good work ethic and strong ties to his crew. All respectable traits.

His last... several movies has done nothing for me. I'm an old man at heart. If it appeals to women en masse, it's not for me. One notable exception being Akira Kurosawa's sentimental Madadayo. Clint could still make a woman out of me yet.

I may need some beer to get through his latest. Definitely a stream at home flick and not a theater attendance event. Sorry it wasn't a good time for the OP. We're not really a movie-going culture anymore. When we do bother with it, it should feel like a worthwhile endeavor.

Any thoughts???

DH and I rarely go to the movies but I felt like seeing this one. I wasn't sure what we would see but I can tell you we were both impressed and enjoyed it very much. The two hours flew by, the only question we had was - how is this going to tie together - and lo and behold it did in a very satisfying way.l
One reason I think we enjoyed it was because the language was fine - I will not watch a movie where every other minute someone says the F*** word. I don't hear it in my everyday life and I don't want to hear it at the movies. I think the acting should stand on its own.
