Yes, I'm working on a new crib quilt for my grandson's arrival, which is any day now :-)

erstan947 01-03-2011 05:59 PM

I'm working on a baby quilt for Saturday's baby shower.

Linda1 01-03-2011 06:15 PM

I am almost finished with my first UFO. If I get them all finished I will have enough for next Christmas, several birthdays and more. It is my goal to finish them all then my stash calls out.

Thumbelina 01-03-2011 07:07 PM

Got lots of great ideas and would start on them if I could stay off here long enough.

Homespun 01-04-2011 07:58 AM

I am working on a scrap quilt --using up some strips I cut from material someone gave me.

catrancher 01-04-2011 08:14 AM

Ideas only. I made hand warmers for my family members. My DIL mentioned she'd like foot warmers. Then I saw a tute! Guess I'm ready for her.

KGoodhand 01-04-2011 08:27 AM

I am getting ideas but that is as far as I have gotten so far!!

fmd36 01-04-2011 09:23 AM

Lots of ideas ...keeping a list. But birthday's come first.
Want to ddo strip piecing, crumb , etc. No feedback yet on GS quilt...but I forgot to ask. Too essily distracted by GSs
chattiness...but I love it.

tntgranny 01-04-2011 10:05 AM

I've already got a box going - some late arriving on line orders - some quilts not finished in time. My kids give me a hard time about shopping 12 months of the year for Christmas. Sometimes I see something that is just perfect for someone - if I wait it won't be there later. I did have to come up with a system so I remember where I put everything and don't get the same item twice. Spreading out the purchases over the year makes the budget crunch less overbearing in December.

plainpat 01-04-2011 01:19 PM

I have a pattern for a tree quilt & hope to make 3 of them for myself & 2 DDs.Just need to find out what size they want, wall or throw.Still working on gathering greens & creams,

I want to make everyone a quilt this year for Christmas. That would mean making 8 total. I think that might be a little adventurous but if they don't get done this year I'll have a good start for next year. haha

barefoot quilter 01-04-2011 01:57 PM

yep just started a mario quilt that i am making for one of my gs and thinking of the other things that i want to get done for this year

chrissy 01-04-2011 03:30 PM

No. Not yet. Although I have some patterns, ideas to get started off to a busy year. I think I might try to sell some this year??

Matilda 01-04-2011 04:18 PM

I have ideas and will be starting soon--I hope!! One project will take that long. It might even be for 2012!

quiltykitty 01-04-2011 05:29 PM

Sure, I've even bought one present. Found the perfect item for a step daughter-in-law. And got some really nice crochet baskets at a good price. I'm going to line them and make bread baskets to hold gifts for some married grandchildren. One can never start too early making or buying Christmas presents.

Maybe1day 01-04-2011 07:24 PM

Have to join the No camp at this time, likewise I do have some ideas floating around and am also open to others.

adrianlee 01-04-2011 10:03 PM

Yes, but so far it's a list of things to make. I keep a notebook on the nightstand, got my Christmas list and then other lists and project ideas. Other day when I was working on making a bunch of little tote bags for a friend, I pulled fabrics for a Christmas wall hanging, decided to make two, one will be a gift. So got a head start on that one. That is better than last year, so this help having a little group with the same goals.

Dee 01-04-2011 10:17 PM

Not yet.

lalaland 01-04-2011 11:53 PM

Nope, but I did get the pattern cut out tonight for my sewing guild's 2011 charity project, and I have the fabric set aside for it as well so I guess that's some progress on something!

rona thickpenny 01-05-2011 12:43 AM

yes , they are ufo`s from yonks a go.

wanna be quilter 01-05-2011 02:36 AM

Havn't thought about it yet, but quilt presents need to be started early, went to town yesterday, Christmas cards at half price, and people buying for family and friends for next year, now I think that is tempting fate just a little.

ktyree 01-05-2011 04:17 AM

Well, I bought 6 panels (70% off) to make beautiful Advent calendars (nativity scene) dor my kids, and was getting ready to pack them away with the other Christmas stuff and thought, Hey, Dumbo! Now is the time to do these, instead of pulling them out at the end of Nov, and having 3 days to do them all. The lightbulb comes on at the right time occasionally.

plainpat 01-05-2011 04:39 AM

That's what I thought about making 3 Xmas throws....what better time?

Are you kidding? I'm still working on last year's choir gifts! Technically, I told them last year I'm giving Epiphany gifts from now on. Well, today is Epiphany and I delivered some presents early to 4 members on Sunday night. But I have 5-6 more to deliver on Sunday morning.

I've realized something about myself. I sew slowly and meticulously. It took me almost a whole day to fussy cut, front and back, the towel toppers, centering the image on the front then cutting another one upside down so that when it wrapped around the stove handle it would be right side up.

Then I cut interfacing for both sides, ironed that on and made the tops. Then I box pleated the towels instead of just running a gathering stitch, basted the pleats and finally inserted that into the tops and stitched into place. I do have 5 more tops cut out and ready to sew with interfacing already ironed on but, really, does it take anyone else this long to make things???

Oh, and don't laugh please, I made my first yo-yo last night! See, I'm not a 'hand' person ... that's the 'H' word in my book. And I have arthritis in my hands and have had my thumb fused so it doesn't bend.

Anyone have any good tricks for 'gripping' a hand needle so I don't keep dropping the darned thing? I have to place it back into my hand with my other hand which is a pain in the neck! because the thumb is not fused at an angle that allows me to pick up small things like a time, a pin, a needle!

However, I am pain free in the thumb since they fused the joint!

Peggy
