I follow the advice of my children and use Firefox. Google Chrome gets messed up by security software and I can't be bothered to correct it yet again.

quiltaroni 09-15-2011 06:08 AM

I am new to it but like it so far.

I have Google Chrome, and I like it.

grandjan 09-15-2011 07:12 AM

I've been using Chrome for a couple of years, on three different computers and I'm totally sold. Now that some of the apps interface automatically with my Android phone (calendar, to do list) it has become an essential thing in my life. Love it.

Chrome users-Have you been able to print from a website using Chrome and been able print a normal size? Evidentally, this has been a problem with Chrome and I can not fine out if there is a work around.

Easy-peasy...if you use the wrench icon, then choose Options>Personal Stuff> Browsing Data (and choose what to import by clicking on boxes)

You can import it into Chrome. I love Chrome for dial-up because it is so much faster, yet has all the features I use from the big boys.

I haven't had any problems printing from Chrome. When you go to print next time, check your options under Preferences. Sounds like scaling could be adjusted.

JudithAnn 09-15-2011 08:12 AM

Love Google Chrome! It also has good security so that hackers don't get in and plant virus stuff.

franair 09-15-2011 08:22 AM

I use Chrome and Firefox.. but have been having trouble with them both crashing all the time.. very frustrating...

I'm quite happy with Firefox. For those that can't get .pdf's to download through firefox, there is a free add-on called Foxit reader that is wonderful!

I didn't know that about pdf's-thank-you. I use both IE & Firefox.

i use igoogle as my home page, love that!

i switched from IE to Firefox..i love firefox, BUT i can't get the gmail to bring up all the bells and whistles, like font size, color, fonts, etc...i can change it over, and it won't hold. i also can not use the pinterest, the "pin it" won't stay up on my header..

some message boards won't work with IE,which is why i switched to begin with.

right now, i go back and forth with the 2 browsers...what a pain.

karenpatrick 09-15-2011 09:21 AM

I use it sometimes. When I'm on the board and try to reply to a post I always get an error message that says the site is not available. However, if I wait a few minutes my post shows up. anyone else have this problem or is it just me? I usually use IE for this board so I don't get this error message.

crazyrvquilter 09-15-2011 09:34 AM

It happens occasionally.

I have solved my printing problem. Hooray!

dphelps 09-15-2011 09:50 AM

I use Google Chrome (went from Firefox) and I like it. The only problem I find is that I cannot enlarge the print like I was able to with Firefox(easliy) and that it just takes a little getting used to.

crazyrvquilter 09-15-2011 09:57 AM

To change size of print on page click "wrench" in upper right corner and then + or - at Zoom.

Sandi 09-15-2011 10:01 AM

I use and have been using Google Chrome for almost 2 years. IE was too slow so I tried it and loved it. I have had no problems and like it a lot. Recently I tried Firefox and I like it but I like Google Chrome a lot more. I haven't tried to print so don't know the hazards there.

Marysewfun 09-15-2011 10:21 AM

Hmm - this is an interesting and timely topic. I downloaded the Chrome but haven't figured it out yet (I use IE). I can't warm up to the Bing - so far it seems like a nuisance. Will go back and try the Chrome now that I have seen a few tweeks mentioned here, Thanks.

I've got a little rolodex next to my computers where I have my sites and passwords - - well at least 90% of them - I occasionally run across one I forgot to make a card for.

Most sites will provide you with your chosen password if you request it. :-)

My solution for printing is to click Advanced when print screen opens up and then print. Don't know if that works with every printer but it does with my HP.

FERSID 09-15-2011 11:12 AM

Both Hubby and I have Macs - Hubby runs Chrome and says he prefers it over any other browser.

I started out with Safari but switched to Firefox Mozilla because it allows me to access and run highly encrypted Banking and Government Websites to do some of my online online.

I personally love Firefox - it's faster than any other Browser I've used and has a lot more security functions you can utilize when accessing websites.

Marysewfun 09-15-2011 11:24 AM

Wow - I just tried it now that I have seen some stuff here about operating it and other than having to sign into things again (passwords) all over again - so far I am impressed. It seems fast compared to what I had.

Ceil 09-15-2011 12:02 PM

I went from the always slow IE to Firefox, then tried Chrome and didn't like it as much as Firefox so switched back. I love the tabs on Firefox and I don't think they had that feature when I used Chrome. I also love the ad blocker and the little space where you can put an icon for your favorite sites. Maybe Chrome has all of this now but I'm too happy to bother switching or trying it again.

butterflies5518 09-15-2011 01:50 PM

I use Firefox and BF uses Chrome, he is only a computer geek on the hardware and doesn't do much surfing.

cwessel47 09-15-2011 02:13 PM

Just downloaded Google Chrome the other day but haven't tried it out yet. Firefox for me - for now. I still have IE on mine and HAVE TO use it at work. Probably the reason we have so much trouble with Siebel going down all the time.....

I get it with IE.

GlitzyMe 09-15-2011 04:52 PM

I've been using it for over a year and really like it. Rarely have a problem accessing any site and it's alerts are very good.

Jo Mama 09-15-2011 05:53 PM

LOVE GC

DaylilyDawn 09-15-2011 06:18 PM

I use Sea Monkey. I have used it ever since I got my first computer in 2002. You can get it a this website: http://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/ I love that I can enlarge the text size with out changing any other thing on the page. I can also check my email by going to Window and choose Mail and Newsgroup. It helps if you have set Sea Monkey up to download your email from the web. Like having Road Runner as your email. I even got my hubby using Sea Monkey as his browser. You can open tabs in it just like IE but it is so much easier to use than IE. I have IE on this computer but I rarely use it.

moonrise 09-15-2011 06:24 PM

I love Chrome! Be sure to get the Ad-Block Plus add-on, too (that goes for Chrome AND FireFox). No more ads!

FireFox is great, but I prefer Chrome since I play a couple of FaceBook games. It seems to be a bit faster and a bit more stable than FireFox when it comes to Flash games. :)

Tropical 09-15-2011 07:08 PM

I have used Google Chrome off and on since my computer whiz son told me he uses it. I like it. I just haven't switched my email from yahoo and it is easy to access it from IE. I'm not really happy with IE though because it keeps shutting down while I'm using it. So I think I will finally make the switch since I can keep my email as it and still use GC. Good luck with your choice. You can try it and see if you like it. :)

deedum 09-15-2011 07:15 PM

I tried Google chrome several times, it always have created too many problems! So I don't even try anymore.

I think I had Chrome but have no idea what it is. I may have even deleted it since my computer is now showing me a window saying I'm running out of disk space. I have no idea what to do about it without messing things up.

The message about the disk space is telling you that your hard drive is almost full of programs , documents and other things like pictures or music. The best thing to do is to purchase a larger hard drive and have everything on your old drive transferred to the new hard drive.

I am happy with Firefox, so I will just stay with it.

Thanks for this info. I know I have a lot of family & quilt pix but haven't learned how to make disks & get them out of the computer. Just got too lazy to figure it out.

Gramyx7 09-15-2011 11:42 PM

I have used Chrome for a yr or so.. I like it.. I can have several tabs open at once.. it's great and I have never had a problem with it at all...

snicktrain 09-16-2011 01:11 AM

I have recently changed over from IE at granddaughters suggestion. Got REAL tired of Internet explorer has stopped working. Check back later to see if problem has been fixed. So far I like the change. It took me a while to get used to the tabs on top and not X out of any part of a page. It takes you out of everything. I've not used Firefox. Heard good things of them too. ;-)

go through your pictures and documents and delete the ones you don't want. then run the defrag.
i store my pictures on Picasa, they are stored off site (out of my computer) you really need to do something with your hard drive..what if you lost all your pictures and info..from a virus or something else? you would be sad. i know..it happened to me..lost everything.
there are great video tutorials on utube on how to do the things you need to learn. check them out!

CrookedQuilter 09-16-2011 04:42 AM

I have been using Chrome and love it. Have avoided Internet Explorer for many years. For the ? about bookmarks, hit the wrench on the toolbar, select "Bookmarks", and then select "Import Bookmarks and Settings". If that does not work for you, check Chrome's "Help".

You may also need to do a Disk Cleanup before you defrag. No need to put temporary files and cookies in order.
