Hi all, I'm in for April. Got back last nite from a retreat in Buffalo MN. Spring was bursting out everywhere once I got to the cities. It's about a month ahead of schedule, but very much appreciated. I got back last nite and just after I finished unloading the car, the sky unloaded and we had a massive thunder storm. Lake Superior was beautiful! I'm encouraged after eating carefully this weekend and hope to have a big wt loss month. Last month I lost a total of 5.5# so down to 247.5# now. My goal again this month is to move more and get to the therapy pool to do my PT workout.
Also, I want to get my sampler quilt finished. It's been an UFO for 2 years and I'm tired of looking at it!! Also, I've got some flannel I want to turn into a quilt for my bed. So these are my quilting projects for the next several months. I will share that at the retreat, folks donate items to raise $$ for our retreat's scholarship fund. I crocheted an afghan & donated it to the fund. We played bingo for the prizes and I won my afghan! LOL

I got a cast on my foot today. I am hoping that I can still walk around a little with a lot less pain. It is removable, I am so thankful that we don't have to wear those plaster things hardly ever any more. Not a whole lot of exercise is in the near future for me. If I get a wheel chair, then maybe my arms will get a bit of a workout. Fortunately this is my left foot so I can still drive and still operate a sewing machine!!!!!
I was only down 6 lbs for March. Less than I had hoped but happy that it is at least that much. Hope I can do the same for April! It will be hard, once I have foot surgery I am blessed with lots of friends that want to bring over meals, problem is that I can't as carefully control what I eat. I will tell everyone that it needs to be low fat and low cal and lots of veggies!!! Most of them know that but don't usually cook that way for themselves.

Okay, I'm in one more month. If I weigh 146 again on the 30th, then I'll rethink it. April and Easter are times of new beginnings so it's a great time to jumpstart a weight lose. With spring arriving, our caveman genes will let us lose a few pounds as we survied a winter, so April will be a great month for all of us.

My name is Judy and I am a sugar addict. My name is Judy and I am a compulsive overeater. The second one is easier to deal with than the first for me. I wish I had seen that program Sunday. Two of my children were sugar reactive when younger - one still is, so it would have been interesting to me. D bought a white rat for a science project and feed him healthy food for two weeks then gave him a smidgeon of brown sugar. Poor Gilligan went berserk - even ran upside down across the top of the cage. S had her stethoscope home from work to check his heartbeat, but they couldn't count it - it just a blur. D's conclusion as a 5th grader - "I am not the only mammal who reacts to sugar." I hated it when the gov't decided sugar didn't affect children. None of them ever worked in a classroom, I'm sure, especially after Halloween. The sugar lobbyists at work again. I'm curious about the effect of sugar on me. I am thinking the attacks of sleepiness are related so the first thing I can do for for this month is track that.

Gilligan was a hit at the science fair, but being an idiot I had never considered what we'd do with him after it was over. I had a dog who was half Basenji and a bit of a fighter, a Siamese cat and a rat in the same house. The rat lived three years.

I put the red quilt aside and pulled out the wedding quilt that didn't get finished in time for the wedding last summer because I wanted it larger. The couple will be in the state the week of the 15th, so I am going to make those extra blocks and finish it.

Purplemen, where are you? We need you. I wonder who our winner is this month. Oh, I need to chose a bright and get in it the mail. I have plenty, but which one can I part with? Decisions, decisions.

Woman's World magazine's diet for this week is five days of 'normal' eating and two days of low carb. What is normal???

Pam 304, what's our taboo for this week?. Newbies, we have a weekly taboo that starts on Tuesday. It really isn't always something we should never have (sometimes it is), but has been a way of raising awareness of how much I consume of certain things. Last week was Easter candy and I have been successful, so I'll take my gold star, thank you very much. Thank you for doing this, Pam. BTW, if you have any ideas, you can PM her.

I want to get back to the quilt, so;

I AM losing weight and getting healthier. Goodnight, all.

edit: Pam and I were typing at the same time.

if anyone is interested, chromium picolate (sp?) is supposed to help with your cravings for sweets. as a sweets addict, especially chocolate, i am giving this a try this month. gonna find a place for water aerobics as it is too hard for me to get exercise d/t fibromyalgia. the aching is sometimes unbearable, and my Dr. and friend, who is a pain management specialist, tells me that light aerobic exercise is one of the best treatments for it. medication is out of the question for me and water aerobics is easiest on the joints.......

alikat110-- the positive is our drs recognize fybromyalgia (so many think it's in our heads), the negative is they do not understand how difficult it can be to get out of bed, much less exercise. during a flare up it hurts to even breathe. my husband has agreed to do the pool for one more year (at least) since it is the only place i have no pressure/ pain on any part of me. blessed relief ! i have eaten all the easter candy i'm going to for this year, so hoping april is a good month to lose! good luck everyone!!

Irish, I would be thrilled to weigh 146. The last few pounds are always the hardest to lose. Are you sure below 146 isn't too low for your body? As we get older out weight set point goes up a little.
I too am a sugar addict. I do find that the more I eat the more I need. Especially chocolate. I cut back slowly and it seems to be easier. I try to allow myself 2 or 3 chocolates a week. That is usually enough. Once I start increasing that it get totally out of control. (like now)
We are taking my uncle out for dinner tomorrow for his 85th birthday. We are going to a really nice restaurant that I have been wanting to go to for years. Then back to my sisters for birthday pie. (we aren't cake eaters here) I sure hope I can control myself.

Hi all, I too am an addict to sugar and carbs. Eating high carbs w/sugar & fat and man, I'd be off and running into food. Couldn't get enough. Now that I eat low carb food plan the compulsion is lifted - for today. I work a program to help me with staying off sugar and excess food. It's working! Now I need to move more and it's hard when I hurt. Didn't get to the pool today but I'm planning on going Wed. I like the info on eggs. Looking forward to trying some of them. Good luck everyone on eating healthy today!
