GOOD LUCK EVERYONE !!

nvb50 03-30-2015 04:55 PM

I need a challenge

coffeegirl 03-31-2015 04:11 AM

Sending in my fat quarters asap, count me in, and good luck to all!

CindyA 03-31-2015 06:34 AM

I'm in again, too.

Same here, Penni! :p

I rode the stationary bike this morning, 15 mins only, but that's a start, right?

Thanks for starting the new thread, Pat.

Annaquilts 03-31-2015 07:19 AM

I own no scale so I can't participate here right now but my DD's put an app on my phone from loseit.com and 3 of us are trying to loose weight. Even with no scale my clothes will tell me if I am on the right track. Unfortunately I just spend a good amount of $ on some clothes that are roomy.

Are there any particular diets or programs for support that you are following? Unfortunately I did not see quilting under exercise. I do a lot of quilting but I do feel that us quilters are a happy round bunch overall.

If I plan to buy a scale any tips on getting a good one? Brand? I am tired of scales that read different every time you step on them. I mean like a minute apart because they are not accurate.

meanmom 03-31-2015 03:08 PM

Anna welcome. If quilting was exercise I would be nothing but skin and bones. I have a Weight Watchers brand scale. It wasn't too expensive. I have had it about 5 years and it is pretty accurate.

Annaquilts 03-31-2015 03:46 PM

Thank you meanmom! Hmmm I know. I think my hobby doesn't help in the weight loss department. Pitty!

heart of Dixie 03-31-2015 05:27 PM

I think I would like to give this a try. New to this so how many fat qts do we send you?

Mama H 04-01-2015 03:09 AM

Count me in!!

dragoncat 04-01-2015 05:46 AM

I'm in! Anna, this will sound crazy, but every post office has a large package scale. Ask if you may use theirs. And, yes, they will look at you funny, but it will get the job done. ☺️😉

Iraxy 04-01-2015 10:50 AM

I'll try it. I have not even been quilting very much so I can't use that as an excuse. Sigh. Need the challenge too.

Jim's Gem 04-01-2015 12:01 PM

I am in!!! I am going to lose weight!!!!!

Pam H 04-01-2015 05:49 PM

I'm in. Time to get serious.

Haha! So true. I am waiting on ordering a scale. Hope to get it done soon. Maybe I 'll have courage to go to the post office. The diet is going good.

JuneBillie 04-01-2015 08:13 PM

I haven't been in on this in a while. I guess a year, but can't remember now. No I really think longer. Anyway, I am jumping back in here. I need the challenge, and a lot of weight loss.:)

Judith1005 04-02-2015 04:11 AM

I'm in for April. I will get out a fat quarter to you soon.

Annaquilts 04-02-2015 12:29 PM

Is your goal ideal body weight or a set weight loss not reaching ideal body weight?

I am in! DH has a scale, a cheap one, at work but I figure if I use the same scale at the end of the month it should be pretty accurate to show the difference.

Anyone else not setting a goal of ideal body weight? My goal is to loose 20 lbs by mid summer or so. I will still be over weight then but I am just not sure if ideal body weight is do able for me or if I care. I guess I am setting a realistic goal for myself with a realistic time frame that I think I can do. When I get there I'll see if I'll have a new game plane or will shoot for maintaining.

meanmom 04-02-2015 02:11 PM

Welcome all the newbies. I have quite a bit of weight to lose so I find I do better with mini goals. My final goal just seems too overwhelming. I really need to lose some weight before early June. I went dress shopping today with my mom. We have a family wedding June 13 and several other wedding to attend this summer. I found several dresses I like but they don't ome in my size. I should have brought my favorite home as an incentive to behave.
We have 3 weddings coming up, 2 baby showers and 3 wedding showers. The family wedding is in Florida so I am flyying there. I just told DH between the gifts, hotels etc I will probably need a lot of money. As usual he whined and complained. He will let it stew in his mind for a day or 2 then agree with me and quit whining.

JuneBillie 04-02-2015 03:46 PM

I have my info now to send my fat (skinny quarter) of flowers in. I am excited to be in again. I also have a lot of weight to lose. I will just be glad to lose any I can to be healthier, and to fit better in my clothes. I would love one day to be at a ideal weight, but that has been such a long time ago. I can hope though. :)

I weighed this morning, and have it recorded. I am back to counting my calories, because for me with issues that is the only way for me to lose weigh. I can't exercise much, but hope as I lose that might change where I could do some. I did try to do some range of motion exercises when I woke up today. I have to start somewhere.

Last night I seen a toast treat that sounded good to me for eating healthy so I have it down.
' Piece of toast (for me I prefer whole wheat) a teaspoon of cream cheese spread across the toast, and thin slices of cucumber on top of that, with a thin slice of lean turkey.' I love cucumbers. I have got to get to the store to pick up some things.

Today I did a bit of piecing on a lap quilt for my dad who is in a nursing home. I want to work some more on it later today too. It's just simple pieced 5" squares to make 4 patched blocks, but I love the fabric. I am using darker green solid, with green and turquoise with bits of white print. I didn't want it too light with him using it, but I think he will like it.

Have a great day everyone, and good luck on your healthy eating.

Pam H 04-02-2015 06:19 PM

Here's another one to try, Susan. My daughter got hooked on these while living in France. Spread cottage cheese on a piece of toast and then top with radish slices. Very yummy!
I would like to be at my goal by October. My son is getting married in China. I'm sure Chinese people think all Americans are overweight. I want to show them otherwise. I've got 6 months to lose 30 lbs. That should be doable.

Annaquilts 04-02-2015 09:40 PM

quote-I will just be glad to lose any I can to be healthier, and to fit better in my clothes.-quote

That is exactly how I feel JuneBillie. Best wishes with the healthy eating too.

Raggiemom 04-03-2015 11:47 AM

Good luck with healthy eating and exercise, everyone! I'm in, I'll try to get FQs in the mail next week; I'll have to see what I have in the cupboard for the colors/patterns. I have a weight figure in mind but it's not set in stone. I'm more trying to eat healthier and get in better shape.

meanmom 04-03-2015 01:22 PM

I will post the march winner tomorrow. Right now we have a tie. If you haven't PM'd me you loss don't forget to send it.
I am trying to eat healthier too. I like toast with a little bit of FF cottage cheese. Top with sugar and cinnamon. It doesn't need much sugar. Put it under the broiler until bubbly. Tastes almost like cheesecake. I haven't tried it with splenda.

Jim's Gem 04-04-2015 10:42 AM

I wasn't able to get my FQ's out this week. I am leaving town tomorrow for 10 days. I won't be home until the 15th. They will be late. I am sorry.

I am doing well with my eating. The scale is slowly moving downward.
Today I am not feeling that great. I've had a little cough for a few days but today I feel drained. I have so much to get done and am also hosting Easter dinner this afternoon (cause tomorrow we leave in the afternoon to drive to Texas to visit my FIL)
Eating clean this next 10 days will be difficult. It is a 2, full, day drive to Austin from here, then going to San Angelo and then back home. Traveling with a 3 y/o and a 10 month should make the trip even more interesting. Driving with my daughter and husband. All my other children and grands will be flying into San Angelo to spend time with their grandfather. It will be great to have them all together!

Raggiemom 04-04-2015 01:21 PM

Gayle, safe travels and enjoy your family visit!

Pam H 04-04-2015 01:45 PM

Gayle, I have a cough too. Have had it for about a week then nose started running a couple of days ago. Last night I took a store brand nyquill. Slept for 9 hours! Much better today. Hopefully it will be gone in a day or 2. Safe travels. The drive could be even longer than expected with the littles along. At least it will probably feel like it!

JuneBillie 04-04-2015 03:24 PM

Pam thanks for that recipe. It does sound yummy. My husband picked up some cottage cheese too. Yesterday we both went too long before getting some more food that was healthier so I went over my goal for the day, but today back on track.

Everyone that may be traveling take care and be safe. :)

Mama H 04-05-2015 02:58 AM

That is a way of making sure it is not in the home!

Annaquilts 04-05-2015 05:33 AM

Happy Easter

Happy Easter! Best wishes with staying to good eating habits today. Easter lunch is at my house so I control a lot of the food. It is leg of lamb, a lean ham, asparagus, home grown carrots, mash potatoes (potatoes, water, sea salt and a tiny bit of butter for flavor), home made bread and two types of desserts. Of course there is way too much Easter candy because most of the guests are kids or think they are, 19 people but three are infants. The hardest part for me will be the desserts because two different daughters will be bringing them so I will need to try some else their feelings will be hurt. As long as I stick to one small serving I will be fine. Portion control and choices will be key for me today.

meanmom 04-05-2015 10:25 AM

And we have a tie for March: Jims Gem and Coffeegirl with a huge loss of 8 pounds. Congratulations to both of you. Jims Gem will receive the FQ since you can't win 2 months in a row. Awesome job. Keep up the good work.
Pat
Happy Easter everyone. We are heading to my sister's house for dinner. She is not known for her cooking skills. Everyone brings a dish. I made a super chocolatey cake and an angelfood cake trifle. Nothing healthy about them. Portion control will be the key. Back on track in the morning.

Jim's Gem 04-05-2015 12:45 PM

Happy Easter everyone!!!
Hitting the road here in about 15 min. I don't have a tablet, laptop or smartphone so I will be out of communication for the next 10 days!!!
He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!!! Hallelujah!!!

coffeegirl 04-06-2015 04:48 AM

Congratulations Jims Gem! Way to go!

Pete 04-06-2015 07:20 AM

I am in !!!!!

Annaquilts 04-07-2015 08:21 AM

I am taking the twins on a field trip and to the park. Any good tips for nice food to take along that won't break the calorie budget?

jeanne49 04-07-2015 09:11 AM

I'm in again, and I think I already sent my FQ's for the next 3 months. I haven't weighed myself in several weeks, but I know I didn't lose in March. But I do have to get back on the right path - want last years summer clothes to still fit.

Pam H 04-07-2015 09:37 AM

Anna, fruits and veggies are always a safe choice. Maybe a turkey sandwich on whole wheat to go with them. I would love to take my DGD to the park/zoo for a picnic but it is only 40 today. A bit chilly for me to have her outside for too long.

JuneBillie 04-07-2015 10:16 PM

Yesterday I ate really good and healthy. For the most part I did today too, but just a tad off.
