A portabella mushroom "burger" sounds yummy! We had leftover chili tonight and I made cornbread. I was a good girl and only had one helping. We had nice weather today, but by the time I got done running errands I was done in. My driver's side door is broken and hubby won't be able to work on it until we get a weekend with dry weather and no other commitments. So for now I am using the passenger door and climbing over. My knees are only good for a few of those a day.

I feel for your knees. I am still nursing a knee injury that I needed to have minor surgery for. I was able to walk with my DH and dog for 50 minutes tonight which was 5 minutes over my longest time. I am not looking forward to the summer heat in Texas. That will end my long evening walks. : (

Hello, all. I am so tired of making decisions. I went to ebay to order a new canister set. Instead I found another two candidates. I've since eliminated one, but now can't decide on one. It makes me feel like spray painting my old ones and calling it good.

Our weather has been just what we have needed to have a smooth transition from huge amounts of snow to no snow. Warm days - the 50s, and cold nights. I haven't heard of any floods. The ground is taking the melt so far. My driveway gets a lake at the end, but it doesn't last this year. I may have snow banks on the north side until June. The snow banks in front in front are still 3 feet tall and I know the ones in back are higher. The dogs and I are enjoying our walks, though I had to cut today's short. The IT band in my left leg wouldn't cooperate so I'll have my massage therapist look at it tomorrow.

I made an app't with my orthopedic surgeon for next week. I dislike being casted all summer, but one foot needs some help. I also dislike traveling to see him when we have several locally now, but I feel the need to stay with the person who has done other work, even though this will be less complicated. It's hard to leave the best of the best.

My weight is sneaking down slowly - watch me lose weight when I didn't sign up this month. Pat, did you ever announce the winner of the batiks? It sounded like it might have been you. If so, congrats.

The worship committee at church requested a prayer quilt made by May 4. It's not going quickly. It looks like I will have to take some time off from painting the house to work on it. I'm trying to enlarge a Swoon block and am doing a lot of guessing.

I have to go to bed at a decent time so it won't be tonight. Financial stuff at the church in the morning so I need to be awake.

I need to get rid of these pop ups. Zulily has a gorgeous turquoise purse in one and I don't need any more of anything. My house is as cluttered with too much of such things like my body Is cluttered with too many pounds.

I AM losing weight and getting healthier.

Judy, Cindy was doing the winner for March as I just took over for April. I haven't heard who the winner is. It wasn't me as I gained a pound.
Everyone here is working late tonight so I just took a much needed nap. About 20 minutes, I feel so much better. My DH is always busy this time of year as he is a landscaper and is getting everyones yard (except mine) ready for spring. He plants the bushes and grass etc. My DS works late on Thursdays and the other DS (home from Japan) took his car to get worked on my his brother. 2 of the kids in class are a pain in the neck. The teacher is calling one parent tonight. HE is stealing food from other kids at lunch and telling them it is our little secret don't tell anyone. There isn't a shortage at home. He just wants their goodies. The other is the kid I work with. They are just trying to get enough documentation on him for an alternative placement for next year. I have a whole notebook filled with data on him. In math today I had the kids do a math problem to figure out how many more days of school. They kept asking. There are 60 more days.

Yeah, I don't think we ever did hear who won the batiks for March. Pretty sure it wasn't me. Only a couple of lbs lost here.

You can google it. It's a copycat of the Panera salad. Actually, its' so good that I'm afraid to check the calories and fat, but at least it's healthier than what I was eating. Google: Panera Fuji Apple Salad. My DH and I worked together to put it together last night. It's so hard after a long day at work to cook, so I was appreciative of the help.

Cindy posted an eight pound loss, bur Lauriejo posted nine. It's none of my business as I lost only two, but just curious.

I did Google the salad and the calorie count for one serving (1/6th of the recipe) seemed high to me. It sounds great, though I would have use a fresh apple, not apple chips. Most light colored dried fruits have sulfites to retain the color and I can't do those.

I walked the dogs too far yesterday, but made it back so no harm done - just didn't enjoy the last few minutes.

I had to laugh yesterday driving around the lake. Our snow came early and deep so the city never was able to take down the decorations in that area. The trees still have lights in them and the giant snowflakes are still displayed. The banks are mostly under three feet now. When will I see my flower garden on the north side of the house? Such a year!

I had intended to make some soup with chicken, spinach and Italian spices yesterday, but came home so sleepy from the massage therapist that I just thawed some cabbage soup. Thank goodness for the freezer.

I need to work on the quilt for the church today. There, I said it, so now see if I can follow though. I am enlarging a Swoon block. We'll see if I can do it correctly. Purple, black and white with butterflies. A tad too bright, but what is, is.

I AM losing weight and getting healthier.

I think I may have injured myself - hula hooping, of all things! I bought a good, fitness type hula hoop yesterday. Last night when trying it I thought I might have bruised my muffin top. LOL This morning I may have caused an internal injury. Maybe someone who has had a hysterectomy and a bladder sling should not hula hoop. They were talking about it at WW and it seemed like a good idea.
For the month of March at WW they talked about fitness every week. One of the things we are supposed to do is get up every hour and be active for 5 minutes. Let's give it a try!

irishrose 04-11-2014 09:01 AM

Pam, were you able to keep the hula hoop going? When my daughters were in junior high, I was the hula hoop champion. The girls bought their friends home to try to outdo me. My oldest was close, but I was better. I don't think I'd try now - it might be a big disappointment.

I'm working on the Swoon block. Several flying geese are done. I wish I'd read ahead before I cut my fabric for the HSTs. She wastes more than I would. I don't want any 1 3/4 'bonus' blocks.

I rarely sit an hour. I tend to move from project to project, so for me add something would be to do some gentle exercise in those 5 minutes. I think I can do that. Oh, now I sound like my favorite book, 'The Little Train That Could'. I used to read that to each kindergarten and first grade class every year which means most of the students heard it twice but it was a good reminder to try hard when something looked difficult.

mateoh 04-11-2014 10:04 AM

Pam and Irishrose,
I am very impressed about the hula hooping. I was able to as a child but when my youngest was in grade school we bought a hula hoop and I could not do it all. We actually all tried it out at Christmas that year and were able to get some great video's and photos.
I did manage a two mile walk with my dog Kasper. Tonight we will try for three depending on the temperature. It is getting way to warm way too early.
