Oh really? Ugh! The only thing that I've downloaded from them was a Mark Twain story and a Jack London tale and they were OK. I guess you have to pick and choose.

I have a thing about ordering anything from Amazon. (Although, I think that Jeff Bezos is a financial genius.) Audible is run by Amazon, so I'm avoiding it. I've also found AudioBooksNow.com. The do let you listen to a short excerpt first, before you buy. It's also a club, like audible. I might check them out.

I have been been creating a physical, book library over the last year. We are building bookshelves in our vacation rental cottage and I want to have a nice library available to my guests. I also want some bookshelves in our own home, but I've been waiting 10 years for that to happen, so I'm giving up hope. :( Audio books are far more convenient and easier to store anyway. Plus, I can listen to them while I'm sewing.

Audiobooksnow.com also has a "free book" section...mostly classics. You have to create an account first, but I'm not sure that you have to subscribe to a plan. I'm going to go ahead and join and let you all know how it works.
