Well, I purchased the dvd from Amazon........I must really live under a " bushel basket" not knowing this was an Oscar winning movie not that long ago!

Boy, amazon is speedy! DVD came in yesterday, so I watched it last nite...boy! What a disappointment! That movie is a real dud! Bad acting, cinematography really bad, dialog very unclear, changed a lot and deleted many parts of the book......left me thinking, if i had not listened to the book, I would not understand this trite version of it! I am SO GLAD I did get the audio version of this book...as a lot of it is the verbal " thinking" of the little boy...something that the movie failed to do enough of. Jmho

I have an account with audible.com owned by Amazon. Allows me to get books by favorite authors as soon as they come out and many great deals on new authors and classics. I have the 2 credits a month account which is less than one audio book would cost. I'm a middle/high school media specialist and I have many books to preview for our Accelerated reading lists as well as my own favorites. Audiobooks allow me to multi task in many situations. Another thing I really appreciate about Audible.com is I can return a book and get my credit back if I find I don't like a book due to the storyline, something about the book like language or content, or a narrator(s) I can't listen to. I also like that you can change the speed of the narrator's reading. Sometimes if a voice actor is reading with a heavy accent if a character requires it, I can slow the speed to catch every word. I chose this over trying to get books at the library because I need to listen to new releases as soon as they come out, but the public library is a great choice too if you can wait a little bit for really popular titles-provided it's a title the library chooses to carry.

I love listening to books and I, too, have joined audible and am currently up to the 7th book in the Oulander series! When I am listening i just feel involved in the story as well as my project!

Love audio books., I had to travel a lot by car for my job and I always had a few books checked out to listen as I went down the highway.

I too like audible books..I think it stimulates ones imagination...we read to children before they can do it themselves...wonder what the many young people I see with buds in their ears are listening to?

Cybrarian, I too have an audible.com account with Amazon but didn't realize one could do all of what you say. I joined recently and perhaps I should have another look at the site to learn more. Any advice? Marie
