Because our men are SNORING?

Patchworkmarion 05-30-2011 10:59 AM

I can relate to that also.

I use to tell my EX that I could not sleep
because I had to sort out the day I just
had and plan for tomorrow.

As soon as a man's head hits the pillow he is asleep. I can't figure it out. I wake up several times a night or have a hard time getting to sleep in the first place.

Iamquilter 05-30-2011 12:10 PM

I do the same thing, but then after a few nights not sleeping the next I will sleep the usuall for hours.

kdid82 05-30-2011 12:16 PM

I think it's all the unfinished projects that keep the women awake, our minds don't want to shut down

I do just that Sandy. He's the only man I have ever 'met' that can snore in any position and I wouldn't trade that for anything. It makes me feel secure, knowing that he is there saving me from all the dust bunnies. LOL
So sorry you lost you DH. Happy memories to you. (((hugs)))

Barbshobbies 05-30-2011 01:45 PM

No conscience.

RobertaMarie 05-30-2011 01:49 PM

(why is it men just drop off as soon as they lay down and snore the night away and we women are awake most of the night?)

I use deep breathing exercises to relax before sleep. I sleep well at night, and if I wake, I read. My husband says he sleeps well because he has a pure heart and a clear conscience.... He trained himself to sleep any time he could while he was in the army. All people are different.

Chasing Hawk 05-30-2011 03:52 PM

DITTO!! Why is that?

Hot flashes are waking me up throughout the night, throw covers off, cool down, put covers back on, lather, rinse, repeat. Ugh.

LOL....

dh was a marine.. he can sleep anywhere... in fact, if he is horizontal.. he is asleep..

i resorted to hrt for the hot flashes..lowest possible dose, & only take every other day... makes the flashes bearable...reduces the risks involved in taking them..
also, i take melatonin (sp?) everynite.. makes a huge difference. i sleep thru the night... i hadn't done that in years.

ditto!

madamekelly 05-30-2011 04:58 PM

I thought it was just me and DH that had that problem....

serenitybygrace 05-30-2011 06:13 PM

Most men are able to compartmentalize better than most women. It is considered a "male trait" to delineate, or to separate things into catagories,a "female" trait to synthesize, or to see the over-all picture and put things together. I think we, as females, have a harder time putting our thoughts about things into little rooms in our minds and keeping the door closed.
Also, don't take meletonin if you take an antidepressant.

ncredbird 05-30-2011 06:21 PM

Personally I stay awake because "men just drop off as soon as they lay down and snore the night away" and it irritates me. Sometimes I purposefully go to bed 15 min earlier than he does and get a head start. My DH worked different shifts for 20 years and can fall asleep anytime or place he desires (and sometimes when he doesn't do it on purpose). If I happen to fall asleep for a few minutes during the afternoon I am usually awake until about 2 am. Ann in Tn

"Men Are Like Waffles, Women Are Like Spaghetti". Men have boxes in their brains and compartmentalize everything. They can just move to a box with nothing in it and fall asleep. Women's brains are like spaghetti. Everything is connected to everything else, so it is much more difficult for us to rest out brains.

nativetexan 05-30-2011 06:21 PM

because we use our brains to think!!! i do it up to four hours before falling asleep.

BellaBoo 05-30-2011 06:34 PM

I never to to bed until I'm sleepy and then I fall right to sleep and sleep until I wake up unless I have an early appt. DH is a light sleeper, wakes to any noise, so I let him worry about things that go bump in the night. I sleep like a log. The Dr. said it was a sign I didn't have any stress or let stress bother me.

Dizzydene 05-30-2011 07:11 PM

I think it's because quilters are so creative, it takes a long time to shut our mind down!

LOL! I know what your doc is talking about regarding the ObamaCare plan...I was able to read through the first draft...that was pretty much in plain English, but the revised 2000 + page version is so full of Legalese that you have to speed read through 40 pages to get to the subject then continue through another 87 pages to get to the 1st "maybe". I still have it on my compter somewhere.

My husband insists on keeping the TV on...even when told that it doesn't help the "brain" sleep...and he wonders why he's tired all the time. If I manage to get to sleep after a hard day and end up on my back the deep breathing "bothers" him and I get jabbed in the ribs. Naturally HE doesn't snore nor does he worry that the TV keeps me up! Go figure.... and don't dare turn it off......"What are you doing????? I WAS WATCHING IT!"

Lynnc 05-30-2011 10:33 PM

My husband could be in the middle of sentence and stop making sence. I know he is a sleep. It takes me an hour on average to get to sleep, always have even when I was a child.

katigirl 05-30-2011 11:08 PM

Wouldn't mind if we could stay up and quilt and not be tired in the morning. Wishful thinking I know. lol.

jenniferlrn 05-31-2011 06:55 AM

I have found that if my husband goes to bed before I do, then that is it, I will never go to sleep for all of his snoring!!!! UGHHHHHH!!! I absolutely hate it. Then I end up sleeping later than I wanted to and my day is all downhill from there.
