why is it men just drop off as soon as they lay down and snore the night away and we women are awake most of the night?
|
I have no clue, but some nights it really ticks me off!!

I don't know either, but I'm thinking you didn't read yesterdays funny about snoring. I will look and try and post the link. Maybe you'll be able to test the theory!

quite the generalization---
i know a number of men who suffer from insomnia...i don't think it's true men drop off to sleep- women lay awake...i think it's anyone with alot on their mind lays awake- those who handle stress a little better- sleep better...man or woman- makes no difference. |
In our house, I am the one who drops off to sleep first. My hubby has complained about it for years. But if I wake up in the middle of the night, uugghh....I never get back to sleep!
|
ummmm because we work so hard to keep the wpen in our life happy??? lol
|
Join the crowd, I was awake all night too.
|
What annoys me is when I fall asleep trying to watch a TV program. Then, I move myself to the bed & cannot go back to sleep.

Hot flashes are waking me up throughout the night, throw covers off, cool down, put covers back on, lather, rinse, repeat. Ugh. |
Perhaps all the snoring keeps us awake!!
|
I think ckcowl is on to something. I sleep like a rock but when something is on my mind I have weird dreams.

I think it depends on what's going on with either of us - sometimes he doesn't sleep much - sometimes I don't.

I lost two nights this week; waking up at 3 AM and then going on the computer answering emails. Then I'm shot for the following day.
I have a solution, I just didn't follow it myself...it's called Melatonin. It's in every drug store, although my best friend sells it through Usana, and I just forget to take it. I remembered last night and slept like a baby! Menopause is no friend to sleeping, so this is a great fix! |
lindyline I don't know either, but I'm thinking you didn't read yesterdays funny about snoring. I will look and try and post the link. Maybe you'll be able to test the theory!
OMG hilarious!!! Read that to dh. |
I just know that my mind just keeps going 250mph. Don't know how to put on the breaks!

My husband suffers from PTSD (VietNam). He has night terrors that wake me up. I call his name and get him out of the terror and he goes right back to sleep without remembering any of it. I am awake and can't go back to sleep. I hate it and I hate that he suffers so, but he doesn't even know it.

Recently I read and my sleep doc confirmed, that the TV and computer should not be resorted to when sleepless. The bluish light from each of them fools the brain into a wake up mode as does sunlight. The thing to do is read with a yellowish light. My recommendation as a retired lawyer is to read the Internal Revenue Code. My doc recommends the Obama medical plan. Either way you will be bored into the deepest of slumbers and will have no memory of what you've read.

I should be past the menopause sleepless nights but I'm not. I use lavender. Knocks me out. Hand lotion, body cream. soap all of it lavender. Next thing I know is morning.

We think waaaay too much.

I'm not a man but I usually have no problem getting to sleep. I used to laugh 'cause my ex would get mad that I would fall asleep faster than him.

Have a sleep test done. I did not realise that I needed a CPAP machine. I was lucky if I got 2 hours sleep every night. Now the lag time before I drop off to sleep is no more than 5 - 10 minutes. I wake refreshed, have lost weight and got over some illnesses simply by resting properly.

I think men have an easier time letting go. Our brains are just naturally more active. Our left and right brains work together and possibly work to obtain solutions while we are not influcencing the thought process. I frequently wakeup and find I have the solution to a problem I have been pondering for days.
I love those AH HA awakenings. And, yes they frequently happen in the middle of the night. I also find that I sleep deeply for about three hours and than awaken ready to start my day. |

Maybe they don't have as much on their minds... :-)
|
I think they put their worries to sleep very quickly and we stay awake trying to figure out a solution.
|
It;s the same here. My husbands head hits the pillow and he is fast asleep. It takes me forever! Sometimes I go to the living room and watch what goes on during the night!

Yeah will I take a pill and it has been working for years! But if I do have a wakeful night it is usually because I'm worried about something. I love my little blue pill because I am the light sleeper.
|
Although they are grown and gone..We are listening for that child calling to mommy in the middle of the night. And then there is the gotta go feeling, too. LOL
|
I think you answered your own question - men SNORE the night away - hence - no sleep!
|
Quite complaining. I would give any thing to have my husband back snoring and all other bad habits, but he died in 1999. You will find a very big hole in your life when they die. Count your blessing instead.
