I was out with DH on a "tool" buying spree near Spring City, TN. Saw this tree and thought it was awesome. It was sooooo big. To put it in perspective the gravel road next to it is at least 10 ft wide. Only noticed the hand after I got home and put it on the computer. DS wanted me to show him how I got the fist to photo shop on and be textured like a tree. He did not believe me that it was real until I showed him the pic on my blackberry.

Very unusual and awesome

Alfred Joyce Kilmer knew what he was talking about when he wrote the poem,"Trees." That is an awesome old tree!
Thanks for sharing your picture with us!! |
Beautiful tree but the hand worries me. A little spooky. Must be the time of year.

I LOVE trees. I wish they could talk. =)

I love the trees in the Wizard of OZ. So cute. Especially when he slapped Dorothy's hand. LOL

I too am missing the hand. Can someone give us a little hint.[/quote]
The Left fork looks like a left hand reaching down from above to grasp the tree. |
I love it! Thank you for sharing it with us :D:D:D
|
I love the hand on the tree!!
|
That is a cool and yet creepy tree. The hand is so cool.
BTW the hand is on the main trunk of the tree. |

It looks like a great climbing tree, too, if the hand part didn't spook you out!
|
Very cool. I don't feel creeped out. Feels comforting, somehow.
|
Took me a minute to find the hand!
|
My DH is getting into woodworking. All that extra growth on the tree is called burl and usually has fantastic grain patterns that makes unbelievable pens. A tree like that is worth a fortune to a woodworker!! Of course you have to cut the burl off the tree in order to use it!

You can't beat nature for pure artistry. Stunning picture and beautiful tree. Thanks for sharing.

I must look for that tree the next time I go to Spring City. Where exactly is it located. This would make a great pic to add to my Tennessee Quilt.
Thanks for sharing it.
