thank-you for these....I have a new great-nephew I will be sewing some from. I love flannel...so soft!

QUOTE=kay carlson;5176780]I downloaded these instructions from Patti Henry earlier this month. These are the easiest absorbent soft flannel cloths I have ever made. In fact, I made twenty three :-) ---- gifts for family and friends. I always preshrink the flannel.[/QUOTE]

patchsamkim, I think you'll enjoy the pattern. I did cut 4 or 5 sets at a time and did production sewing cutting down the time and energy. Go PACK!

I make my own in an hourglass shape so the narrow part fits snugly on the shoulder. I originally made them flannel on one side, cotton the other, but the new mothers said the flannel does not absorb the spit very well, so I switched to terry cloth and they said that worked much better. I don't put anything in the middle, just sew the cotton and terry together and run a stitch about 5/8" in from the hemline to keep the 2 sides from getting wonky when washed.

No, I don't put anything on the back to cover the stitches. I use 60 wt. white bobbin thread, so it isn't that noticeable against the print of the fabric.
