This is the way I do it also. Once you put items in the bag, they will cover the bottom anyway, so no one will ever see the seam.

I always hand sew the lining closed, but I keep telling myself next time, I will sew it on machine. I once knew someone who made bags who always sewed the lining opening closed by machine, and it looked fine, and was probably a stronger closing.

I don't sew mine. I press the seam so it looks neat and then I make a sleeve for the insert that goes in the bottom. If I ever have to do a repair, I just take the bottom out and I go back into the purse without having to rip. I am very bad to pull the snaps through the fabric. I am adding some reinforcements now wich should keep them from coming through the fabric.

i sew the inside ...the outside ----then put together turn down the top edge on in and out ....stitch around the top ...sometimes i even put handles in that way
