If I wake him and he's not hungry, then I have to deal with getting him back to sleep and maybe he won't be very happy about having been woken up... *sigh* |
He is just darling! You guys are going to have lots of fun! Take lots of pictures so you can make the second child jealous! LOL!

He's so cute

The first night was kind of rough... he cried on and off till 5 am :( Didn't make a peep at the hospital, but now that he's home, watch out! I fed him around 5, gave him a bottle because he was crying hysterically. Then he was fine till 8, cried again so I went to fix him a bottle and by the time I was back all he had needed was a good burp, lol! I hate to wake him to feed him again... at the hospital they say every 3 hours, but I gave him formula this morning, and I know that takes longer to digest, so I guess I'll just wait till he wakes up on his own. |
Congrats Mel. He is precious.
Love your Avatar. Too funny. By the end of my 7th month, no way could you see my feet. |
Mel, I"m going to give you one of the best pieces of advice I've ever received "trust your instinct" - if you think he needs to sleep, let him...YOU know best. Personally, I'd let him sleep and feed him when he gets up. He's has lots of time for schedules etc. Imagine what a shock life is for his system right now! He needs you to do everything for him, and he's smart enough to let you know it. You will soon learn to differentiate his cries so you'll know a bit more of what's going on. Feed by a clock? No thanks, is what I say.

Your baby is so beautiful! He just looks so presious. Thanks so much for sharing everything with us. I loved your first posting of your preg progression and sonogram and then the last one of your oh so tiny feet beneath your belly...great picture!
It has been such an anticipated birth and so lovely to see how truely adorable your little one is. Beautiful, just beautiful!!! |
Congrats!! He is so precious and sweet. Sure to make your Mother's Day the best ever!
|
Congratulations! He is a beautiful baby! So great a gift.

Congratulations to the new family with such a beautiful boy.
And, know this - you can't spoil a baby by picking it up too much. Enjoy having full arms instead of that full tummy. |
I was told by a very wise woman (she raised 9 children) that babies will make their own schedules. When he's hungry, you'll know it and so will the neibors!!
|
He's perfect! And the forcep mark WILL go away quickly - my 9 lb daughter's did, and she's a beautiful 46 year old!
|
Congrats Mel and Sasha! Alex is such a cutie!
Happy Mother's Day, Mel! |
Auntie Ronda's advice:
Let Baby tell you through his behavior what he wants. Don't eat spicy foods to harm breastmilk. This could cause early colic. What you describe is mild colic. Your calmness is going to be the ticket, Mel. Babies can really sense if tension exists. It is a learning curve for you as Alex is your firstborn, but I think if you follow your own judgment the crying will be read as a need to meet, like changing a diaper or nursing. The onding and adjustment is what you are experiencing. This will soon be old hat, and you will know in your heart what your baby needs and wants. He is a little treasure, and such a cutiepie! Melanie is back in the hospital. SHe has a high feaver and will be on IV for at least 48 hours. Alex is fine.
