I have a bell on the fabric counter at Hobby Lobby. All the kids, teens and men want to ring it.

I let the kids who wait patiently ( with the parent's permission) to ring the bell when they leave - just once!

I have also told them the rule about ringing the bell while I am standing at the table cutting- ring the bell and you have to bring me a treat next time you come ( especially chocolate!)

I know, I worked at WalMart in WA, and it was the big boys that really wanted to ring that bell

I would be tempted to bring my own bell and use it if no one was around. I think I would get someone real quick.

That is so funny. Where I work we have one of those Staples "That's Easy" buttons, so if the receptionist is away someone will help whomever walks in. We we have one VP that pushes that button every time he gets a chance and it makes him laugh every time. I always tell him "simple minds are simply amused".

I hate to admit it, but I did that the other day at Hobby Lobby. I was standing by the cutting table with a bunch of fabric bolts in my basket, and there was that bell, just looking like it wanted to be rung. So, not seeing anybody around, I rang it, and voila! a lady materialized from nowhere. She had been watching me eyeing that bell and thought it was so funny when I rang it. She said she thought for a minute that I wouldn't, but she waited just to see. <G> Silly me.

I really like watching the customer's faces before they ring the bell. Makes me laugh on the inside and outside.

The lady was very obviously amused at my sheepish grin. I still can't figure out where she materialized from (no pun intended). She was not there when I rang it. I was sort of shocked.
