Yesterday, it was hot and humid and I was working up a sweat. Running around in shorter pants as fast as I could considering it was Black Friday. I did not go to the stores/ malls during December if I can help it other than grocery. Temp is dropping already down to 60 from 67 at 4:00 a.m. this morning. Just had the grass mowed on Wednesday and looks like it needs it again. I swear that guy misses every weed but I know I've seen him mow them down then use the weedeater. Just seems like the weedeater is on a diet when it reaches my buffet. The roaches still lurk about; after all this is South Texas.

I don't have weeds, I have three Christmas cacti blooming now. One traditional red, one white and one coral. They spend the summer on our front porch and reward me every fall with all these blooms. Usually, keep blooming until after Christmas.

That picture brings back such a wonderful memory. My daddy never brought mom flowers. But they had just moved into a new (retirement) home and the yard was full of these. He picked one, went into the china hutch and pulled out a crystal vase, and put the flower in it and presented it to her with a flourish, saying they may not have much but they would always have flowers. Needless to say we all choked up. Mom told me later that it was worth the wait to get that one very special flower!

That does look like a neat artistic picture though.

When we lived in Belleville IL we used to have forsythia that would bloom in December among the snow.

Oh, how I wish I had my Christmas cacti! I had two of them before we moved six years ago, but somehow they got left behind. One of them was a cutting from one that my late grandmother had had for years. They are so beautiful in bloom! Enjoy!
