Usually the quilt stores are owned by our "neighbors" and the last thing they want is to make a mistake. Sometimes we have known the owners for 20 years or more. For sure, experiences like this get told and it hurts the business. I find it very disheartening.

Don't go back the 4th time!

Wow that is RIDICULOUS ... they must have the worst, most inept staff ever !!
There is NO excuse for making so many mistakes. The Mgr should address it & get the right amts to you ASAP. If she doesn't make it right, call the BBB AND tell her you will also contact the local quilt guilds etc

I know the chain stores hire non-sewers & HS kids, but a good LQS should have staff who KNOW & CARE about what they're doing ! I used to work at a LQS, if there was a mistake, we made it right for the customer Asap

My most recent experience at Hancock's was just the opposite, to my surprise. I wanted a half yd. of Minkee fabric and a half yd. of matching velour. The girl said, I'm going to cut this a little over because it's hard to cut straight. She surely did, too--almost a yard of each!

Put a stop on the credit card payment. They will call you then.

So what's the name of this quilt shop? I live in Michigan too and don't want to go there!

That sounds like a good idea as well

Everyone can mistakes, but their's was being rude! I always try to judge what I'm spending, and if the bill different than my estimation, I try to look at the receipt before I leave the store - not just at the fabric store, but at the grocery store or Target - whatever. I've felt sort of rude sometimes checking up on them right after the sale, but so far, no one's been rude when I called a mistake to their attention, and I'm still in a position to "prove" I was right.

When something like this happens, tell us about it, then
tell us about the resolution, if any, then tell us the name
of the shop and where it is located.

Tell the shop owner that you have a lot of friends in the
US who themselves have other friends and family in the
area that they will tell about how well this shop has treated
you!!

Call the Better Business Bureau and make them aware of the pattern at this shop. Also, since this happens everytime you visit the shop, you may want to note it on Angies' List. If you let them get away with this, they'll only do it more. And if you ever go there again double measure and double check what goes in the bag. And the fact that the owner didn't call you says a lot!
