Wonderful effort for such a worthy cause.

There are some super easy fleece hats you could make, if you wish. Nice and cozy too.

I agree with the hats for men, the nurse who gave my DH his hat had to look through a ton of pink ones to find one with manly colors. I still have it, can't seem to let it go.

yes, when I look at the cancer hat and quilt offerings, there are so many for women. Several months ago, someone had donated some camo fleece to me and it was just enough to make 2 chemo hats... saved fleece from being thrown away.

Gosh Nan, do you ever sleep?

LOL ... some days it seems not. I often wake up 4-5am and will crochet in the semi darkness.

I do make the fleece hats, I have been making and donating those for years now. I got really lucky a couple of days ago while visiting my son, his Jo-Ann store was having a local store special, 75% off fleece remnants. Since it was already on sale for $5-$6 a yard, the rems were less than $1.50 a yard, some of them were nice size 1.5 yard pieces too, I ended up with 2 big bags full. My brother was asking if I could make any of the soft knit ones, I think maybe they were made from cotton yarn?

On another related note, I am looking for a face mask pattern for him, the pleated type, not the fitted one. I found one on the Cloth with Pegs blog, but it is made to be worn over a disposable surgical mask. I am looking for one that can be worn alone. Anyone have a link to a free pattern?

This is my favorite pattern for 'sewing' chemo hats. They are great in fleece and in cotton knits. And you can make them a bit smaller or larger to your need. Made dark colors for men or male minded prints.

I’ve made hats from cotton knit fabric and give them to our church nurse. Ours is a large congregation and she knows who can use them. Mom crocheted 100’s of neck scarves for friends, neighbors, homeless.

I'm madly in love with the green hat in the first row!!!

Nice job, Nancy. I don't knit or crochet but may try my hand at the fleece ones.
