I've been sick for over two weeks now and it's turned into pneumonia. I finally broke down and went to the doctor today. I hope it goes away soon. I've had 10 days off of work and haven't been able to get much done and with 10 days off I should have been able to make at least 2 good sized quilts and I'm still not even done with one. Just have no energy right now, but I want to get something done.

ann clare 12-30-2010 12:28 PM

Get yourself well.

craftybear 12-30-2010 12:35 PM

take care of yourself

Brew yourself a soothing cup of tea ... snuggle in your favorite lap quilt,
grab some quilting magazines, and just daydream about your future projects.
Cures me every time!

Jim's Gem 12-30-2010 12:38 PM

I hope you get to feeling better really soon!!!

Prism99 12-30-2010 12:48 PM

Are you pushing fluids? When I was sicker than a dog with the flu and didn't get better day after day, a nurse told me to really force myself to drink liquids as much as I could. Once I made myself do that for a day, I finally felt better the next day.

kreinhart742 12-30-2010 01:07 PM

Hoping you a speedy recovery

mollymct 12-30-2010 01:23 PM

I hope you feel better soon! Try to get lots of rest and yes, drink lots of fluids! That stinks that you've been sick on your days off!!

You need to rest..easier said than done...I was sick for 2 wks before Christmas...finally got an antibiotic...long story short, I ended up at ER and was diagnosed with pleurisy...which is soooo painful...I think I possibly had walking pneumonia before we left, not sure but definitely no energy...I hate it too...you think of what you could have accomplished, but behave yourself..if you have no energy, then rest...believe me, pleurisy will set in after cold/flu/pneumonia and you will be forced to rest as it is soooooooo painful..I must sound like an old mother hen...sorry...and hope you feel better..

I feel your pain. Got together with family one week before Christmas, got a bug and have been sick for 8 days. Whole family got it, ranging from sore thoats to ear infections and pneumonia. May we all get well soon. have some tea and cuddle up with your favorite quilt. :|

SherriB 12-30-2010 01:39 PM

Please rest and take care of yourself. Pneumonia can be hard to get over. I work in a hospital and we get many pna (pneumonia) patients.

Tea, quilts,a little hand applique, makes it all better. It helps that DH is sitting near with loving attention. May enjoy this after a time!

Hosta 12-30-2010 02:06 PM

I hope you feel better soon I have had pneumonia and I know how miserable you feel

Snorky Lvs2Quilt 12-30-2010 02:37 PM

Sometimes it just takes a while for these "bugs" to go away. Lots of fluids and rest is all you can do.

SuziC 12-30-2010 04:49 PM

There will be time for quilting.....just rest and get better then you can sew your heart out! REST REST REST Hope you feel better soon

hperttula123 12-30-2010 05:21 PM

Thanks so much!!!! :) I had to run and take my son for his check up and he's FINALLY better. Yeah!!! So I did some grocery shopping and now I'm back home to rest(on the computer, lol). I will be taking it easy tonight and tomorrow(hopefully still being able to get a quilt top done that I sooooo want to get done, but I can't seem to figure out how I want the blocks.

There is a bad virus going around. I have it too. I may have to give in and go to the doc if I don't start feeling better soon.
Take care of yourself...the fluid is really important! :D

Yes, be careful. I had a bad cold for a week and after that it moved to my chest. I have horrible coughing fits and it's hard to breath sometimes. I'm taking in lots of fluids and stocked up on orange juice today at the store. You take care of yourself too! :)

kateyb 12-30-2010 05:59 PM

Lots of fluids and some Vitamin D3 will help. Check the RDA for the vitamin D3.

ibequilting1 12-30-2010 06:29 PM

Take care of yourself first, the quilting will still be there when you feel better.

NUTMEG10 12-31-2010 06:02 AM

Rest, rest and more rest. SherriB is so right. I have had pneumonia 3 times this year (COPD) and my lungs are still not cleared up per the x-rays. Take care and health New Year

CarrieAnne 12-31-2010 06:26 AM

CGail 12-31-2010 06:32 AM

Rest and take care of yourself - even baby yourself. You need time to recuperate. - Cynthia

grannypat7925 12-31-2010 07:20 AM

Sounds like you need to stay in bed and rest so you can feel better!

kathome 12-31-2010 08:55 AM

Same thing happened to DH. It took 2 Dr visits over a 2 week period, 2 steroid shots, 2 antibiotic shots, oral antibiotics and an inhaler, and just over $300!

That was 6 weeks ago and he is still coughing up yucky stuff.

oh my...I hope he gets better soon. I'm feeling a little better today, just get tired so easily.

Take this time to get well. We all need to recharge sometimes and maybe you've been pushing harder than you realize. Think of these days as preparing for the new year.

stitchofclass2 12-31-2010 01:07 PM

This is going to sound very strange but I just got an e-mail today which claims the if you cut an onion, slice off top and bottom, and put it in a bowl in your room, it will absorb all bacteria. Apparently, families used this method in 1918 during the flu and it seemed to work. Others state that they have tried it and it works. Nothing to lose! Try it. If it does work, please let me know and pass it on.

catrancher 12-31-2010 02:32 PM

I've had pneumonia, and it can take a long time to be completely well, even if you are well enough to return to work. Take care of yourself, and don't rush things. You'll end up worse off than if you just take time to heal.

pinebeltquilter 12-31-2010 04:34 PM

Sometimes we get the most done by taking care of ourself first.
Hope you continue to improve.

maggie4431 12-31-2010 05:04 PM

I hear you loud and clear. Been sick myself since November, actually October. Saw the doctor Friday before Christmas - still just a sinus infection, did another round of antibiotics but still not much improvement. You have my utmost sympathies, we WILL beat this!

ksea 12-31-2010 07:19 PM

I hope you start to feel better soon, take care of you!!!

barbt 12-31-2010 07:22 PM

IBQUILTIN 12-31-2010 07:42 PM

OMG don't push yourself. Take your time, but get well fast.

sewer 55 12-31-2010 11:09 PM

Your first job is to get yourself well. There will be plenty of work and quilting to do after that. Relax and rest and get youself back to good health.
