Even envelopes with the post office bar across the bottom go into the shredder. Everything that has any information goes into the shredder and then it goes to be recycled with other paper. It is kept inside my house until I dispose of it away from the house at the recycle bin place.

I would put a big sign on the next bag to go out. perhaps....Everthing in this bag has been shredded, so don't bother....or a sign that says "If you want to check my trash, that is what you are"....or Bag Contents sprayed with urine.
If you think these signs are despicable, that is what these relatives are. Terrible.

Yes, it does! Shredding is practically a full time job these days. :( And so many of these things have your address several times inside the mailer ... drives me nuts.

I have a friend who goes through her mail and any identifying info, names, CC numbers, etc, she rips into little bits and flushes them down the toilet.

I live in a big city...so no burn barrels allowed...but that doesn't mean that I can't add some important papers to our lovely fires in the cold weather. I use credit card applications as kindling. They burn very nice.

Better yet --Burn it-- all you need is a small metal garbage can and you torch these papers right out on your front porch.

I shred everything using a crosscut shredder. The shreds go under the chicken roost and then eventually to the compost pile. The only exception is the window envelopes, the windows just don't decompose in my compost pile.

wow, the nerve of some people!! His relatives? That's even more disturbing to me than if it was just some random thief!!

That's scary! Thanks for the reminder - I think we might be having more fires in the fireplace this winter.
