Another blast from the past. One of my favorite things in the whole wide world (something I loved to say when I was a child) was Cho Cho Pops. They were a malted milk ice cream in a dixie cup type thing that you peeled off and they had a wooden spoon stuck in as a handle to hold them while eating. I believe these were made by a dairy in Pennsylvania - I grew up in upstate NY. As I write this, I can still taste these and wish for one day I could go back to the past and get one. Ohhhhhhh, these were sooooooo wonderful. Anyone else ever have one? If not, I'm sorry you missed the experience.

Oh yes!! One of my favorite treats as a kid. My mom worked at a milk store/ice cream shop, and getting a Chocho on a hot summer day was such a treat! Sometimes now, I will make a choc. malt at home and freeze part of it in a cup, then later, after it is frozen, will scoop it with a spoon.

It seems they sell them in CA so if you are ever on a road trip you could stop

A fellow cho cho lover!!! I got them in a small town variety store. It was pretty dark in there, and they sold bins of thread and sundries, fabric, etc. In the far back corner was a small chest freezer where they kept them. We did not have a lot of money in the 50's but my mom made sure I was able to get a few every summer. This is one of my favorite memories. Funny what is important to a 5-7 year old, huh?

You could look up a recipe for malted ice cream and make some yourself.

I might give this a try. I like malted milk shakes - this would be one step better. :)

Your mother making sure you got something special once in a while, away kept it special. I bet even now the little things still makes you happy. :thumbup:

I just think how special an ice cream treat was "way back when", now kids have it so often they don't know how to really appreciate it.

You are sew right. We bought a new car last weekend, but I like cho chos and my pop beads more. The little things are precious - old family pictures, my paternal grandma's stereoscope, an accordion my maternal grandparents gave me 52 years ago and I will never part with, and I have every post card I ever received since I was 8 years old.

lol. I just might do that, but have to be careful because I still have 30 more pounds to lose. Have lost 50 so far.
